Happy National Handwriting Day! - January 23, 2026 As I’ve made a more intentional effort to send handwritten notes, I’ve found myself thinking more and more about handwriting itself. We’ve promoted it in our store—cards, note cards, thank-you notes, stationery—quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) trying to make handwriting cool again. I can instantly recognize my parents’ handwriting. My brother’s too. But recently, I had a moment that stopped me: I’m not sure I would recognize my sons’ handwriting. We text. We email. We message. I remember my Aunt Pat once apologizing for typing a letter to me—explaining it was faster for her and easier for me to read. And now, I hear myself using that very same excuse. So I’m curious—how about you? How much do you still write by hand? ⸻ (As I wrote this, I thought I would grab a couple of boxes of handwriting examples — and immediately fell into a wonderful space of memories of notes I’ve saved that meant the world to me. I also grabbed some family history that is so meaningful, my mom’s baby book - with her mother’s handwriting throughout - my mom’s mother died when she was just a few years old — and a post card to my grandparents - a note from a friend who died 30 years ago. I think I will go write a note to someone…)
