Facebook Advertising Rules 1. Overview Understanding Our Advertising Policies Our Advertising Policies provide detailed guidelines and rules regarding the types of ad content we permit and prohibit. When advertisers submit an ad order, each ad is individually reviewed against our policies. Our Advertising Policies also outline specific advertiser behaviors that may result in advertising restrictions being placed on a business account or its associated assets (such as ad accounts, Pages, or user accounts). If you believe an ad was rejected in error, or if you believe a restriction placed on your business account or its assets was a mistake, you may request a review of any such decision within the Account Quality section. Common Points of Confusion To help you create ads that are compliant and user-friendly, we have highlighted several common scenarios that frequently cause confusion. Click the links below to learn more: Privacy and Personal Attributes Sexually Suggestive Content Advertising Restrictions on Business Assets 2. Principles of Meta Advertising Policies Advertisers contribute to building the Meta community in various ways—from showcasing new products and services to raising awareness about events and social issues. To ensure the safety of both the businesses and organizations utilizing our advertising tools, and to foster a welcoming environment for everyone who uses our products and services, we have established Advertising Policies that define what content and behaviors are permitted across Meta technologies. Advertisers running ads across Meta technologies must comply with both our Community Standards and our Advertising Policies. Principles of Advertising Policies Our policies are guided by our company's core values and the following principles: Protecting Users from Unsafe and Discriminatory Ads Our policies require all advertisers to comply with the laws of their respective jurisdictions, refrain from discriminatory practices, and avoid selling illegal or unsafe substances. Protecting Users from Fraud and Scams Our policies prohibit ads that promote products, services, schemes, or opportunities associated with deceptive or misleading practices—including those intended to defraud users of their money or personal information. Promoting a Positive User Experience Ads appearing in a user's feed may originate from Pages or accounts they do not follow; therefore, we aim to ensure that these ads do not detract from the overall experience across Meta technologies. Consequently, we prohibit ads containing content that is frightening, sensational, or excessively violent, as well as certain types of adult content and profanity. We also prohibit advertisements that contain other objectionable content—such as material implying or intending to foster a negative self-perception in users—in order to promote dieting, weight-loss products, or other health supplements. **Increasing Transparency** We are committed to providing users with more information regarding the advertisements they see, thereby making our advertising ecosystem more open and transparent. Our Ad Library lists all advertisements currently running across our apps and services. It also provides additional details regarding ads related to social issues, elections, or politics—including spending ranges, the audiences reached, and the entities responsible for those ads. Advertisements covering such topics—whether currently active or not—will remain accessible in the Ad Library for seven years. Furthermore, we have introduced an "Info and Ads" section on all Facebook Pages, allowing users to click and view the advertisements currently being run by a specific Page; this feature helps hold advertisers accountable. **Enforcement of Our Policies** We utilize automated systems to enforce our policies, supplemented by human review in certain instances. In addition to reviewing individual advertisements, we also monitor and investigate advertiser behavior; we may impose restrictions on advertiser accounts that fail to comply with our Advertising Standards, Community Standards, or other Meta policies and terms. Our review processes may not detect every policy violation; consequently, advertisements remain subject to ongoing review and re-evaluation, and may be rejected at any time for violating our policies. Advertisers are responsible for understanding and adhering to the policies outlined in our Meta Advertising Standards, Terms of Service, and any other applicable terms and guidelines, as well as all local laws, regulations, and self-regulatory advertising standards (where applicable). If an advertisement is rejected, the advertiser is typically given the opportunity to edit the ad to bring it into compliance; if an advertiser believes an ad was rejected in error, they may request a review. If users believe an advertisement violates our policies, they may submit a report. Users can also view detailed explanations regarding why a specific advertisement appeared in their feed, and can use our Ad Preferences tool to control the types of advertisements they see in their feed.
