🦋Twenty-two years ago friends prayed for me to begin hearing new songs God wanted released from heaven. I began composing more songs than ever before the next day. Twenty-one years ago I had an open eye vision to get these song prayers to military. I had no contacts in the military nor connection with music. 🦋Step by step the Holy Spirit led me to The Creation Lab recording studio in Turlock, California to develop the songs which I now call song prayers. I began working on song prayers at the studio with Michael Everett twenty years ago. Since then I have developed 29 fully albums, two singles and another six albums in progress. Each has a slightly nuanced focus so the song prayers help you during various life circumstances and emotional states. 🦋I began sending the music to members of the military and their families in late 2006. I founded non-profit Eagles Nest Foundation in 2007. It was not long before I was providing the song prayers and other soul care (spiritual support) to families of wounded warriors and families of the fallen. 🦋Along the way, I was the first one to listen to the song prayers regularly as I developed them. Though I thought my work was about helping others (and it was and is), it was also about the healing of my own heart from emotional abuse I was not even aware I had been under since birth since this was my normal. 🦋In 2022-2023 I conducted doctoral research with a wonderful group of women veterans to document the effect of listening regularly (daily) to playlists of the song prayers because anecdotally, I was noticing those who listened who changed and strengthened from the inside out. They were transformed by God to be more resilient in whatever they were going through. Emotional well-being increased. 🦋Noteworthy, however, is that this was not just research. What the participants in the study experienced already mirrored my life. I had been changed through daily exposure to the song prayers--daily attunement of my thoughts to God. I was making space for Him where I was not just talking at Him, but present, calm and listening for whatever He wanted to speak to me. 🦋Over the years, He has taught me about abuse and how it is not loving like Jesus to tolerate it. He has opened my eyes through the Scripture to the priority of loving like Jesus (fulfillment of the two "greatest commandments" through which all the other commandments and words of the prophets are fulfilled. 🦋Too often I thought I was following Jesus when I focused on the laws of how those around me in churches were teaching me how to live. Since early 2019, this journey of inner healing which includes learning to recognize and stand against abuse, has caused me to focus on what loving like Jesus looks like. In other words what it looks like according to Jesus to live His way. How does Jesus want me to love myself? How does He want me to love others? His way of love is primary! It unlocks all the mysteries and does fulfill the law which superceding it so that you are walking by grace and by the Spirit and not a checklist of to-do's and not to-do's. 🦋I'm not going to argue out details here. I write out parts of what I have learned about God's love which I believe is critical for the renewal of His church and restoration of humanity and all of creation in my Substack publication, "Seeking Wholeness Together." (If you are not military, of course, these resources will be effective for your life, too.) 🦋If you have not yet come to the place of prioritizing learning to love like Jesus, I ask that you set this concept before Him and let Him lead you in it. The path is hard because it is different in many ways than you may have been taught and yet, Jesus Himself is the one who prioritized this.
