Matthew 6 is the middle section of the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus teaches that God is concerned not only with what we do, but why we do it. The chapter focuses on living for God's approval rather than people's praise. 🤲 1️⃣ Give in Secret (Verses 1–4) Jesus teaches that generosity should not be done to impress others. Give quietly. Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 👉 God values sincerity over recognition. 🙏 2️⃣ How to Pray (Verses 5–15) Jesus warns against praying just to be seen. He gives the Lord's Prayer as a model: Honor God. Seek His will. Depend on Him daily. Ask for forgiveness. Forgive others. Ask for protection from temptation. Prayer is about relationship, not performance. 🍞 3️⃣ Fasting (Verses 16–18) When fasting, don't make a show of it. True worship is directed toward God, not people. 💰 4️⃣ Treasures in Heaven (Verses 19–24) Jesus says: Do not store up treasures on earth. Instead, invest in eternal things. He concludes: "You cannot serve both God and money." Whatever has your heart becomes your master. 🕊 5️⃣ Do Not Worry (Verses 25–34) Jesus points to: the birds of the air the flowers of the field God faithfully cares for them. Then He asks: If God cares for creation, how much more will He care for you? Instead of living in anxiety, Jesus says: "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness." 🌍 Reflection for Life Today 1️⃣ Live for God's approval It's easy to seek recognition from others. Jesus reminds us that the audience that matters most is God. Faithfulness is often quiet. 2️⃣ Worry changes nothing Jesus never says life will be easy. He says worry will not add a single day to your life. Trust replaces anxiety when we remember who holds tomorrow. 3️⃣ Put God first When we seek God's kingdom first, our priorities begin to align with His. That doesn't mean every problem disappears. It means we walk through life with confidence that God will provide what we truly need. 💛 What This Means Today Matthew 6 invites us to release our need for control. When we place our lives in God's hands, we are free to live with generosity, prayer, contentment, and peace. Instead of asking, "What if everything goes wrong?" Jesus invites us to ask, "Am I seeking God's kingdom first?" ⭐ Most Important Verse 📖 Matthew 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Why this verse? Because it is the heart of the chapter. When God is our first priority, everything else finds its proper place. This verse is a daily reminder to trust God with our needs, our future, and our hearts. 🤍
