Behind the Smile⠀ ⠀ Calling all middle school, high school and college age teens….⠀ ⠀ Joy. Sorrow. Anxiety. Elation. Depression. Robbie’s Hope gives teens both venue and voice for their artistic self-expression around the many emotions our youth face today.⠀ ⠀ Our 2026 Hall of Personal Expression contest is now open for entries. Categories include Fine Art, Digital Art, Photography, Poetry, Interpretive Dance, Music and Film.⠀ ⠀ This is a juried competition with a Grand Prize of $2,500 and Category Winner Prizes of $1,000.⠀ ⠀ Entries must be submitted by 11:59 pm on April 30, 2026. ⠀ ⠀ The contest prompt for 2026 is: Behind the Smile⠀ ⠀ We often say “I’m fine” when we are anything but.⠀ ⠀ For this year’s competition, we invite you to explore the emotional realities that exist behind a smile. What lies beneath the surface we show the world? What feelings are hidden behind laughter, filtered selfies, academic success, or social confidence?⠀ ⠀ High School and College can be a time of pressure, expectation, comparison, identity formation, and silent struggle. Many young people carry anxiety, depression, grief, fear, loneliness, or self-doubt while presenting strength, humor, and composure. This year’s prompt challenges you to confront that contrast.⠀ ⠀ Your submission should explore one or more of the following:⠀ ⠀ * The difference between public identity and private emotion⠀ * Emotional masking and the pressure to appear “okay”⠀ * The weight of expectations (academic, social, cultural, familial)⠀ * Hidden resilience and strength beneath vulnerability⠀ * The moment a mask cracks, slips, or is removed⠀ * What you wish others could see when they look at you⠀ ⠀ Eligibility: 13 to 21 years old and reside in the United States at the time of submission.⠀ Past grand prize and category winners are eligible to participate.⠀ ⠀ Categories: Photography, Film, Music, Fine Art (painting, drawing, ceramics, mixed media & sculpture), Digital Art, Interpretive Dance, and Poetry⠀ ⠀ Full contest details can be found on our website at robbies-hope.com under the blog section.
