One of the biggest misconceptions I had about healing was believing that one day I’d finally stop finding myself in the same situations. I thought growth meant I’d stop attracting certain people. Stop getting triggered. Stop questioning myself in familiar ways. That I’d somehow graduate from the lessons that had been the hardest for me. But I’ve realized that’s not what healing looks like. 🌀 Life has an incredible way of bringing us back to places that feel strangely familiar. Sometimes it’s a relationship. Sometimes it’s an old fear, an old insecurity, or another moment where you’re asked to choose between abandoning yourself… or honoring yourself. Years ago, I would’ve seen that as proof I’d gone backwards. Now I ask a different question: Who am I CHOOSING to be while this is happening? How will I support my energy, needs and voice? Will I abandon myself, be a pushover or deny my own desires or needs so someone doesn’t get upset/mad/activated? Or will I use my words, my boundaries and learnt tools to help myself get out or through the pattern? The circumstances may look familiar, but if we meet them with stronger boundaries, deeper self-trust, more compassion, more honesty, and more self-respect… then it isn’t actually the same experience. The lesson isn’t repeating. We’re being invited to notice how differently you’re responding. I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to become people who are no longer affected by anything—as if healing means becoming untouchable. But that’s not the goal. Maybe healing is staying connected to yourself when life gives you another opportunity to practice everything you’ve learned. Not because the universe thinks you missed the lesson, but because real transformation isn’t intellectual—it’s embodied. 🫶🏼🥹 It’s something we live, again + again, until our new way of responding becomes more natural than the old one. That’s what growth feels like to me. 🤍 Have you ever found yourself in a situation that looked the same… but realized you were completely different?
