Silent Light / Hiromi Kobayashi When we look at something, there are moments when our eyes not only capture the physical form of the object, but our hearts are unconsciously drawn and captivated by it. Perhaps that gaze becomes even deeper and clearer when we sense the fundamental presence of "life and death." The photobook Quiet Light by photographer Hiromi Kobayashi is a volume that gently scoops up the unspeakable tremors of the heart and her delicate inner world through the viewfinder. "When I see the beautiful, bright sunlight, I feel a sense of salvation and am reminded of happiness." As the author states in the afterword, the days she spent walking in search of moments where light dwells, becoming one with her camera, were also an earnest journey to deeply explore the "joy of living." What emerges with every turn of the page is a quiet overlap between the tranquil light shining upon everyday landscapes and the author's internal scenery. This photobook will gently stay by your side when you wish to regain serenity on a restless day or rediscover the beauty of light in everyday life. -- BOOK AND SONS, Tokyo-based bookshop and distributor specializing in Japanese art books.
