My husband called me petty and my daughter agrees. I need someone who isn't family to tell me if I'm wrong because we have been going back and forth about this for an hour and I just came upstairs to cool down. Quick backstory. My son married a wonderful girl about 8 years ago, love her, but her mother Linda (not real name obviously) has never liked me. It started at the wedding when she told my sister my baked ziti was "fine for what it is." That was my mothers recipe. She knew that. Since then its just been nonstop little things. She told my granddaughter that Grammy Linda's house is "more fun." She brought store bought brownies to the school bake sale and told the other moms mine were "too dense." She literally rearranged MY kitchen at Thanksgiving while I was in the other room. I could keep going but you get it. So we both have bad knees. Have for years. Mine got to where I could barely sleep because they'd stiffen up so bad overnight and mornings were miserable. Like I'm talking 5 minutes to get down the stairs one step at a time holding the railing with both hands. My daughter ordered me these bamboo knee sleeve things she found online without even asking me first lol. I wore them because she wouldn't drop it. But they actually helped?? Like I was genuinely surprised. I wear them to bed now and I'm not saying they fixed anything but mornings are so much better. I can do the stairs like a normal person again which sounds like nothing but if you know you know. Ok so here's where it gets bad. Linda had surgery about 6 weeks ago and her recovery has been rough from what I hear. PT 3x a week, my daughter in law is exhausted from driving her, the whole thing. So last week I made my homemade chicken tortilla soup and brought it over because regardless of everything I'm not a terrible person. My daughter came with me. And while Linda's sitting there eating MY soup she goes "oh this is nice, did you follow a recipe this time?" THIS WOMAN. I smiled and left but I had to sit in the driveway for like 5 minutes before I could even drive. Even my daughter was like mom I can't believe she just said that. I haven't told Linda about the sleeves. I know they'd probably help with her recovery, I've literally seen people in the reviews talking about wearing them after knee surgery. I know I should of said something by now and honestly I can hear how bad this sounds typing it out. But every time I think about it I think about the ziti and the bake sale and the soup thing and I just... don't. And I know thats terrible. I know. So the reason I'm writing this now is my husband just asked me if I'm going to mention the sleeves when Linda comes for dinner on Sunday. I said no. And thats when he called me petty and we got into it and now I'm sitting in my bedroom writing this instead of going back downstairs. Am I wrong? Should I tell her?
