With beautiful state parks, rising mountain mists, old log buildings, great barns, woodland roads, etc., not to mention the flowers, from the white Trillium to the other spring offerings, there is much to tempt the photographic palette. There are hikes down to rushing waterfalls, woodland treasures to discover, and old log houses that have been preserved and speak to the early history of this area. If we are lucky enough to have fog or mountain mists, ghostly trees can make for some dramatic photographs. Nearby is Mt. Mitchell, the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi, with some magnificent views for those willing to walk to the top.
