After escaping the laboratory where I had been imprisoned and abused for years, I finally found my mafia father. The beeping machines and antiseptic stench drag me awake—hospital again. Bruises ache on my arms, wires tugging when I move, flooding me with memories' horror: restraints, needles, cold labs. I yank the wires free; blood drips, the machine wails, and the door slams open. A man storms in—dark hair, expensive suit, pale and rigid. His eyes lock on me, tears glistening. A strange sense of familiarity washed over me. Who is he? He seems to sense my confusion. "Adami... I'm your father." He says, his voice cracks. "I've been searching for you..." He starts walking towards me and wraps his arms around me. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you, my princess." I don't feel scared; instead, I feel warm and safe. ———————— LUMI HEARTFELT'S POV I got caught and I'm in a hospital again. The sound of a machine beeping and the smell of chemicals and old people made that very clear. What did I do to deserve this. Did I kill a bunch of puppies in my past life? I silently cry in defeat. I just wanted to be left alone. Is that so much to ask for. I'm starting to think God holds a grudge against me. I glare up at the ceiling, clenching my fist, imagining myself having a stare down with God himself. Moving my gaze down to my bruised body, I notice that I am now wearing a hospital gown. I reach out to my foot, but the wires inserted in my arm stop me. I groan, wanting to break down and cry. This brings back terrible memories of my time back in Sweden. Being tied down to a bed like this and being experimented on. I shake my head trying to push those thoughts aside. My ears perk up hearing the voices of people arguing outside my door, i sit up straight in my seat and listen more closely as they get louder. I can't make out what they're saying but I'm getting irritated. I can't even be left in peace when I'm injured. I slide off the small uncomfortable bed and stand onto the cold floor. I rip the wires out of my arms and off my chest which causes the machine to flat line and blood to drip out. The voices outside my door quiets down before the door is abruptly slammed open and a man with her black hair runs in. His eyes immediately going to the bed I was once in. His body tense, he then begins looking around the room. When he sees me, he visibly stiffens. He looks like he's about to cry... he repeatedly opens his mouth like he wants to say something then shuts it. He looks like a fish out of water. I give him a blank stare before walking right passed him and into the hallway. There I see Odin, Vinnie and Marlo all standing staring at the entrance of the room looking dumbfounded. I ignore them and walk over to the twins. The man from before follows me out with a now serious expression. When the twins see me, they both stand up. "You're bleeding" Aiden points out. Yea, no Sherlock. I gesture for Ana to bend down because she's taller than me. "Where's Juno?" I whisper in her ear. She goes back to her full height and awkwardly shifts on her feet. I raise my eyebrow and cross my arms over my chest waiting for her answer. "He" She pauses for a beat. "He was sick so the doctors took him. They haven't told us anything yet." She bites her lip looking nervous. He's sick. I replay those words before it finally hits me. I place my hand on my chest feeling it tighten. I cover my ears with my hands as the voices start up again. He's okay. He's with the doctors. I swallow the lump in my throat and lean my head on the wall. You failed as a mother. You let him get sick. It's your fault. It's my fault. He's going to die because of you. And soon so will you. It's not real. They're not real. Don't listen to them. He's okay. He's safe. They're just playing a sick joke on me. Yea... a joke. I let out a sigh of despair knowing they wouldn't joke about something like this. Fixing my posture, I walk over the Vinnie and Odin. The man still following closely behind. I fight the urge to kick him in the balls and beat him with a bat. Do it. I hate my intrusive thoughts. "You look like you just survived a horror movie." Vinnie chuckles dryly. When no one laughs he apologizes and steps back. I look over to Odin and tug his sleeve. "Take me to Juno." I breath out. He nods his head for me to follow him and I do. But we get stopped when the strange man yells. "Someone tell me what is going on right now!" He roars. I look over to Odin not knowing what to do. Who is this man? Odin ignores him and grabs my hand. When he finally notices the blood dripping off my arm, he scolds me with a unreadable expression on his face. I roll my eyes at him and remind him of the task at hand. We leave the strange man standing in the hallway. He tries to come after us but Vinnie and Marlo blocks him from doing so. Vinnie whispers something in his ear and he calms down. THIRD PERSON POV Lumi sits besides the bed staring blankly at her son. He's sleeping in a glass box with wires that monitor his heart attached to his chest. The doctor informed her that he suffered from hypothermia and a common cold. He reassured her that he'll be okay. But that doesn't stop her from blaming herself. The nurses tried to take her back to her room and have her rest but she lashed out at them. She didn't say anything however, she did put up a fight. She threw the closest objects she could find and would stop anyone from coming near her or her son. She felt as if she failed not only him but herself. She let her fears get the best of her. She reaches to hold in hand but the glass box stops her from doing so. She tries again and again, needing to take her son out. "Let him out" she sobs. "He can't breath in there!" She gets up from her seat and hovers over the bed sobbing. "I'm sorry." She whispers. Her father Juan Soto is watching her every move from the sidelines, observing her. He's happy he found his precious daughter again. He was shocked to see her behave this way, but he doesn't know what she's been through. No one has told him anything yet. He fights the urge to go up to her and hug her, never wanting to let go. Afraid of losing her again. Odin converse with Vinnie and Tobias about what to tell Juan. Tobias think they should tell him everything, while Vinnie doesn't. He doesn't want to lose the little trust Lumi has in him by telling a stranger her fears and secrets. Odin agrees, but decides to give him a brief overview. LUMI HEARTFELT'S POV Overwhelmed. That's the only word that can even begin to explain how I'm feeling right now. This is all I ever wanted, being reunited with my family. However I do not know nor remember the man standing in front of me. The experiments my tormentors did on me caused problems with my memory. I only remember mama, and even so, it still isn't much. I can't tell if the man In front of me is who he claims to be. My father. This is too much to take in. He just explained to me that I was kidnapped and declared missing for years. Even presumed dead. He says he's been looking everywhere for me, not giving up hope. Nonsense. If anyone tried hard enough, I'm pretty sure they can find a eight year old that has been walking around the streets aimlessly and sleeping in a park for a year. Everyone is looking at me, waiting for a response or reaction. I give them neither. Did they expect me to run to him with open arms? To just accept him? I will not do that. I do not know him. He is no one to me. Just a stranger who appeared out of thin air. "Admani-" Juan starts but stops when he notices my agitated movements. I stand up abruptly and grab to closets object near me. I grab a long metal medical tool and chuck it at him. Aiming for his head. He sadly dodges and looks at me bewildered. "What do you think you're doing!?" He raised his voice a little. However he doesn't look mad at my actions. He looks dolorous. I point to the door indicating him to leave. I don't know why he is here in the first place. He sighs taking a step towards me. "Adma- Lumi." He starts off slowly, as if thinking of what to say that won't set me off. Running a hand over his face, he slumps his shoulders slightly as if in distress. "You should get some rest. It's late and you're injured. I'll check on you tomorrow." He slowly walks to the door like a sad child. When he reaches he looks back at me -almost as if waiting for me to tell him to stay- he lowers his head and leaves. Closing the door behind him. I don't move from my position. I glare at the door, where he once was, clenching my fist. Don't trust him. You can't trust anyone. Vinnie barges in the room. "I have a important question to ask you." He starts off slowly. "Did... did the bad guys who took you. Did they inject you with something?" I lower my head and bite my lip. Why did he bring that up? I don't want to think about those awful things they did. "I need an answer." He hooks his finger under my chin, making me look up at him. I nod my head. He lets go of me and backs away, standing up straight, almost looking like he's about to throw up. "My god." He whispers. "What did they do to you" he now has tears sliding down his face. "So it's true?" Juan cuts in, making his presence known. "You've been going through years of torture and I didn't even know." His voice cracks. He starts walking towards me, causing me to step back. He ignores this and wraps his arms around my small frame. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you." He cries. That day, three grown men and a teenage girl spent the night crying.
