“From Lead to Gold: Gnosticism, Alchemy & the Roots of Depth and Archetypal Psychology.” https://www.jungsocietymelbourne.com/september-2026-helena-b-scott 18th September 7.45pm for an 8.00pm Start C E N T R A L Q U E S T I O N “What happens when an ancient language of spiritual transformation encounters the modern discovery of the unconscious?” Long before the emergence of depth psychology, Gnostics and alchemists were exploring experiences of fragmentation and wholeness, descent and return, darkness and illumination, death and rebirth through myth, symbol, vision and transformative practice. From Lead to Gold follows these ancient languages of transformation into the work of C. G. Jung, exploring how Gnosticism and alchemy became part of the deeper historical, spiritual and symbolic ancestry through which Jung came to understand the unconscious, individuation and the transformative work of the psyche. The session combines historical and Jungian scholarship with primary sources, alchemical and Gnostic imagery, symbolic interpretation and opportunities for personal reflection. Participants will also receive a short supporting handout selected references, articles and links for further exploration.
