I stared at the crumpled papers in my hand, the word “Positive” still burned into my vision like a cruel joke. Twins. I was carrying twins. And for a brief, foolish moment, I had thought it might change everything. I should’ve known better. I burst through the front door, the excitement still clinging to my chest—until I saw her. Curled into Damien’s arms. My husband’s arms. Her sobs muffled by his chest. His hand was on her back, soothing, possessive. Then he kissed her. Not the way a man kisses his grieving friend. It was slow. Intimate. The kind of kiss he never gave me. Something inside me snapped. “Damien,” I said, my voice shaking but loud enough to cut through the quiet. He looked up, startled, but when he saw me, he didn’t even flinch. His expression turned cold. Dismissive. “Felicia,” he said flatly. “What are you doing here?” I blinked. “I live here.” His jaw twitched, but he didn’t let her go. The woman in his arms refused to meet my eyes, burying herself deeper into his chest. I felt the envelope in my hand crumple tighter. “I need to talk to you,” I said. “Not now,” he replied, like I was some inconvenience, like I hadn’t just walked in on my husband wrapped around another woman. I stepped closer, fury rising in my throat. “I’m not asking.” He turned, slowly, finally giving me his full attention. “What is it then? What could possibly be so important?” I swallowed hard. My heart pounded as I lifted my chin. “I want a divorce.” Silence. His arm dropped from the woman, and he stared at me like I had grown two heads. “What did you just say?” “I said I want a divorce,” I repeated, voice clearer now. Stronger. He took a step toward me, like I had just insulted the Alpha crown. “You’re serious.” “D3@d serious,” I said. And then I dropped the envelope on the floor between us. The one that held our future. The one that no longer mattered. “Don’t come crying to me later,” he said darkly. “I won’t,” I whispered. And I meant it. — “Alpha!” A guard barged into the living room, breathless. “The Luna…she collapsed!” “What?” Damien shot up from the couch, his heart thundering in his chest. He pushed past the guard and rushed outside. He found Felicia lying on the ground, pale and motionless. Danielle knelt by her side, feigning panic as she glanced up at him. “Damien! She just fainted out of nowhere!” Danielle cried, clutching her stomach for dramatic effect. Ignoring her, Damien crouched and scooped Felicia into his arms effortlessly. “Open the car,” he barked, his voice tight with urgency. Danielle scrambled to obey, fumbling with the handle before pulling the door wide. He placed Felicia carefully in the back seat, her head lolling to the side, then slid into the driver’s seat. Danielle climbed into the passenger seat, her teary eyes glued to him. The drive to the hospital was silent, save for the hum of the engine and the occasional sniffle from Danielle. When they arrived, nurses rushed to the car and whisked Felicia away on a stretcher. Damien stood frozen, his hands clenched into fists as he watched her disappear down the hallway. “She’ll be fine,” he muttered, more to himself than anyone else. “Damien…” Danielle’s soft voice broke through his thoughts. He turned to find her staring at him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I hope I’m not the reason,” she murmured, her hand instinctively resting on her stomach. “Is this…because of me? Because of our child?” Damien’s jaw tightened, his gaze flickering between her and the corridor Felicia had been taken down. “She was leaving,” Danielle added, her voice trembling. “I saw her with suitcases. Is she…going because of me?” Damien exhaled sharply and pulled her into his arms. “It’s not your fault,” he whispered, stroking her back. “She asked for the divorce, not me.” Danielle’s shoulders shook as she began to cry uncontrollably. Quickly, Damien helped her out of the hospital to avoid the attention on them. He carried her to the car and turned around to sit in the driver’s seat. “I never wanted to cause trouble,” she whimpered, burying her face in his chest. “I just wanted you to be happy.” Damien tightened his grip around her, whispering reassurances. “Don’t blame yourself. You’ve done nothing wrong.” Her tears slowed, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she tilted her face up to meet his gaze, her lips trembling. “I just…I hate seeing you hurt.” Without thinking, Damien leaned down, brushing his lips against hers. The kiss deepened as her hands moved up to his neck, her touch sending a jolt through his body. “Damien…” she breathed against his lips, her tears forgotten as she pressed closer. Reality tugged at the edge of his mind, reminding him of where they were, but Danielle’s soft touch clouded his judgment. “Take me home,” she whispered, her fingers tracing circles on his chest. “Please…we can continue this where no one will disturb us.” Damien hesitated, glancing back toward the hospital entrance. “Please,” Danielle pouted, her eyes shimmering with fresh tears. “I need you, Damien.” Her teary expression broke his resolve. He nodded, sliding back into the driver’s seat. As he started the engine, Danielle leaned in, nibbling gently at his earlobe. A groan escaped his lips as desire overtook his senses, pushing aside any lingering thoughts of the woman he had just rushed to the hospital. He drove off, leaving Felicia behind. — Felicia’s eyes fluttered open, the sharp scent of antiseptic filling her nose. She groaned, trying to sit up, when a gentle voice broke through the haze. “Take it easy,” a nurse said, stepping closer. Felicia rubbed her temples, her voice hoarse. “What happened?” “You collapsed. The Alpha and another woman brought you in,” the nurse explained. Felicia’s chest tightened. “Where are they now?” The nurse hesitated, her expression softening. “They left shortly after you were brought in.” Of course they did. Felicia swallowed the lump forming in her throat, the ache of abandonment settling deep within her. He couldn’t even wait for her to wake up. The door opened, and the doctor walked in with a warm smile. “Luna, you’re awake. That’s a good sign. How are you feeling?” “Like I’ve been hit by a boulder,” she muttered, leaning back against the pillows. He chuckled lightly. “I told you not to stress yourself, didn’t I?” “You did,” she admitted, her tone clipped. His expression grew serious. “You need to take it easy, especially for the next three months. Your condition—” She cut him off, her voice sharp. “Did you tell him?” The doctor frowned. “Tell who?” “Damien,” she clarified, her pulse quickening. “Did you tell him about my babies?” Realization dawned on his face, and he shook his head. “No, I haven’t.” Relief washed over her, and she exhaled deeply. “Good. Don’t tell him.” He raised a brow, his tone cautious. “Why not? He’s the Alpha, and these babies—” “These babies are mine,” she snapped, her voice firm. “He doesn’t want a child from me. He made that abundantly clear. I won’t burden him with something he never wanted.” The doctor opened his mouth to protest, but she held up a hand to silence him. “They’re my responsibility now,” she said, her voice steely. “Let him have his heir with another woman. My children will never need anything from him.” He studied her for a moment, clearly torn. “But Luna, these babies are the future of the pack. You can’t just—” “I can,” she interrupted, her gaze unwavering. “And I will. He’s made his choice. Now I’m making mine. Promise me you won’t tell him. Or anyone else.” The doctor hesitated, then sighed. “If that’s what you want, I promise.” “Good.” She nodded firmly. He cleared his throat. “You need to stay for further monitoring. You’re not ready to leave yet.” Felicia shook her head, determination blazing in her eyes. “I’m not staying here another minute.” “Luna—” “I’m not the Luna anymore,” she cut him off, her tone implacable. “I’m leaving. Make sure no one knows about this.” The doctor stared at her, recognizing the authority in her voice. “As you wish.” Felicia reached for her shoes, her hands trembling slightly as she forced herself to stand. Her resolve was strong, but her body was still weak from the ordeal. Just as she stepped toward the door, it swung open. Standing there, larger than life, was Alpha Magnus, Damien’s father.
