𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗦 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗔𝗴𝗲, 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗹𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸, 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆. A room of builders and investors, one defining question: 𝗔𝘀 𝗔𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲? I was joined by an exceptional panel: Alok Aggarwal (CEO & Chief Data Scientist, Scry AI), Ashu Garg (General Partner, Foundation Capital), Dhrupad Trivedi (CEO, A10 Networks), and Sanyogita Shamsunder (CTO, GeoLinks). Where #NewYork approached this from the vantage point of enterprise and financial services leaders, the #BayArea brought the lens of builders, founders, and investors. What struck me was how both rooms, on opposite coasts and from very different seats, converged on the same conclusion: the human edge matters more, not less, as AI grows more capable. A few ideas that stayed with me: 🔹 AI is a powerful force, but societies change slowly. The human impact may unfold over a longer horizon than the raw pace of the technology suggests. The deep disruption is still ahead of us, and the winners and losers are yet to be decided. 🔹 The most exposed group is not who many assume. It is the 35 to 50 year old middle manager. The very layer that once represented a safe career path is now the most in need of reinvention. 🔹 On governance, separate the urgent from the unsettled. Some issues need solving now: data privacy, bias, consistency, explainability. Others, like the deeper questions of ethics, are still being defined. The real art is balancing governance with the speed to keep innovating. 🔹 Organizations themselves must evolve, from hierarchical to far more fluid and non-hierarchical. The old org chart was built for a slower world. 🔹 The center of gravity is shifting, from proprietary to open source, and the greatest entrepreneurial opportunity now sits in the application layer. 🔹 And a quieter, deeply human thread: as machines fill more of our time and attention, the problem of loneliness grows. Presence, the ability to attend fully to the moment, becomes more valuable, not less. The throughline of the evening was clear. As AI transforms the work, the human edge will lie in judgment, in the capacity to adapt and reinvent, and in our irreplaceably human qualities of connection and presence.
