Before you hire a skid steer mulcher, READ THIS! There are many of these smaller outfits popping up because the barrier to entry is quite low. You can get a decent skid steer mulching machine for about $80k. We are not saying there is not a place for them, we are just saying if your job is over 2-3 acres you may be paying over 2-3x (maybe more) the cost to clear your land if you choose them over us. When to use them... 1/2 - 1 acre of small growth, nothing over 6'' in diameter. They will likely get that done in one day and you will be happy with the work. When NOT to use them... • Any job 2-3 acres or more... not only will it be more cost effective to go with us, we will get the job done in 1 day compared to their 2-3 days. • Any growth over 6'' in diameter, their machine just can't really handle it and if they try they are at risk to break down and it will likely take them much longer than quoted. • If you have ANY large trees that need to be pushed over... we are 41,500 lbs, they are 12,750 lbs, so ya, we can push our weight around. • Large jobs (20+ acres), even if it is small growth, this is where they (and you) get into a lot of trouble. Expect that job to take 4 weeks and cost tens of thousands more. Compare that to less than a week with us. Nothing against skid steer mulching machines, we are actually looking into purchasing one to serve the smaller jobs, just be careful when you receive bids to ensure you are comparing apples to apples. Not all mulching machines are created equal! Hope that helps y'all, and good luck with you land clearing projects! Have questions? Please message us, one of the owners would be happy to help. #landclearing #texasranch #centraltexas #texasfarm #texasrealestate #austinrealestate
