Your Soul’s Purpose By Sam Yau Foreword This is the third poem in the series about the nature of the soul. The first poem is What Soul Is. The second poem is Evidence of Soul. This poem was published last year and fits in perfectly as the last poem of the series. There is a fire within you, hidden, silent, yet blazing bright, a divine spark, connected to the infinite night. It hums the song of timeless love, a melody faint through the noise of the world, calling you home beyond the veil. The ego is a useful construct, crafted to navigate storms and shadows in your soul’s journey as a human. It whispers "me" and "mine," while the soul speaks of the ocean and its waves, wide and unbroken. It invites you to rise, to see through the illusions of separation. The world may press its shapes upon you: labels, roles, and expectations, cut from the patterns of others. But your soul bends to no mold. It is a river carrying the memory of mountains, charting its own course through valleys of the wilderness. To hear it, you must turn inward, away from the ego’s chattering, and listen for its singular voice. Leave behind maps drawn by others, and walk the unmarked path within. Feel the pull of your inner compass, pointing not to the crowds but to the quiet. For the soul does not shout— it speaks in the rustle of leaves, the flicker of a flame, the stillness between breaths. To follow the soul is to come home, not to a place, but to a state of being— it feels like stillness in a swirling world, like warmth in the marrow of the cold. The soul asks not for achievement but for presence, for the labor of love that turns life from motion to meaning. You are not the roles you play, nor the paths handed to you. You are light cocooned in human form, an essence both eternal and immediate, bound to the infinite, and yet utterly your own. Surrender your ego to your soul— you will come to know: your unique life has created unique gifts with which you serve humanity. To answer the soul’s call is to finally understand: that what we do fades, but who we are becomes the fire that lights eternity.
