It’s a rather bittersweet regret of this choir mum. She loves attending our Canberra Children’s Choir rehearsals with her kids. But for the days her kids can’t make it, she’s told us she wishes she could come to choir anyway. This mum loves experiencing what goes on during our rehearsals: - The musical (but secretly educational) games the choristers play. - The relentless energy of our conductor Lucus. - Seeing the kids learn and develop their skills at singing, hearing, and reading music, while she picks up some musical skills herself. Now: Sometimes it’s nice to care enough about something so much, that missing out deflates your day. It’s a hazard of our choir, but parents still feel it's worth the risk. If you yourself feel brave enough to risk it too, perhaps you feel ready for your own children to try out the Canberra Children’s Choir. This educational choir is now for ages 5-9. The conductor, Lucus (also a conductor for Woden Valley Youth Choir) has trained over 420 accredited hours in the internationally lauded Kodály approach to teaching kids music. This approach includes constant singing and games as the kids are meticulously taught musical concepts, building to the ability to read and sing sheet music on sight.
