Mitchel van den Brink P2 in the truck category, Guy Botterill best Toyota driver in P6! The first Dakar stage proved successful for the Eurol drivers. All Eurol truck drivers once again finished inside the top 10. Mitchel van den Brink claimed a strong second place, finishing just under four minutes behind stage winner Ales Loprais, and now holds P2 in the overall truck classification. In the car category, Guy Botterill was the fastest Toyota driver, finishing in sixth place. The factory drivers of Toyota GAZOO Racing delivered a solid stage, with Botterill crossing the line only two minutes behind stage winner De Mevius. In the motorcycle category, Ian Olthof completed a strong first stage. He finished 44th out of 108 competitors. Due to a damaged rim, he had to ease off slightly in the final kilometres. All opportunities remain open for the Eurol teams to fight for top positions. Tomorrow, stage 2 is on the program: 400 competitive kilometres from Yanbu to AlUla.
