Today I’m celebrating 200 times somebody connected with one of my stories enough to bring it into their life. 🖤 Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what The Macabre Magpie has become. People sometimes see milestones and assume they’re about sales or numbers, but for me it was never really about that. I’m not wired that way. I’m a very meaning-driven creature by nature. Truthfully, most of what this little strange storybook nest earns gets poured right back into new creations. New samples. New stories. New ideas waiting to become stories. And every time someone welcomes one of those stories into their home, it gives me the chance to create another. 🖤🥹🎨 That’s what means so much to me. Not the numbers themselves, but knowing these strange little worlds continue to find their people. From fellow Ohio dwellers, to Salem, Massachusetts, to Slovakia, to Australia, to Hawaii. 😭 The symbols I choose all carry stories, even when the people discovering my work don’t know every chapter behind them.
