Are these 3 well intentioned responses increasing emotional overload for your autistic child? Many loving parents instinctively: -Try to reason during a meltdown. -Add more verbal explanations when their child shuts down. -Increase consequences when tasks are not completed. On the surface, these responses make sense. But for many autistic children, emotional regulation works differently. When a child is already overwhelmed, added language, pressure, or urgency can unintentionally intensify the reaction instead of calming it. That is when small moments turn into arguments. Power struggles. Guilt. Disconnection. Autism is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects how a child experiences the world, communicates, and relates to others. Every child is unique, with their own strengths, sensitivities, and learning patterns. Understanding those patterns changes how we respond. Get the Right Tools! Our 6-week parent workshop is designed to give parents practical, respectful strategies that strengthen connection rather than control. Over six weeks attendees will learn how to: Week 1. Understand a child’s unique strengths and recognize early signs they need support emotionally, relationally, and academically. Week 2. Identify emotional needs, navigate challenging moments, and support healthy emotional expression with clear boundaries. Week 3. Use co- regulation techniques, visual and sensory supports, and routines that promote emotional safety and regulation. Week 4. Support friendship development and strengthen communication and social connection. Week 5. Implement concrete strategies for building and maintaining peer relationships, understanding social cues, navigating conflict, and repairing relationships. Week 6. Apply academic study tools and learning strategies tailored to autistic learners, followed by a live question and answer panel. This workshop is open to parents and guardians who want practical tools for navigating high emotions, reducing conflict at home, strengthening relationships, and supporting learning in ways that fit their child. Join us and spend 6 weeks learning how to recognize emotional overload early, reduce power struggles, and build skills that help your child feel safe, understood, and successful. Register now for the 6 Week Autism Parent Workshop. Week 1 begins April 30th. Need more info prior to registration? Join us for the free information sessions on Thursday, March 26th @ 7 pm or Saturday, March 28th @ 1 pm. Additionally, our session leader, Reeti Chopra, is happy to provide free consults to parents who cannot make these times.
