🎖️ A Remarkable Life. A Lasting Legacy. We are proud to present the 2025 Brigadier General Charles E. McGee UNITY Award, posthumously, to Frederick W. Smith—U.S. Marine, visionary founder of FedEx, and tireless champion of the World War II generation. Watch the powerful tribute video now: https://vimeo.com/1147049726 Through the voices of his children, Richard Smith and Samantha Smith Atkinson, this tribute honors the extraordinary values that shaped Fred Smith’s life—and the legacy he leaves behind. “He imagined a future no one else could see—and inspired all of us to do the same.” From the battlefields of Vietnam to the boardrooms of innovation… From building a global company to helping build the World War II Memorial… Fred Smith lived the same enduring values that defined General McGee’s legacy: courage, integrity, perseverance, and unity. While they never served together, Fred Smith and Charles McGee followed the same path—leading by example, lifting others, and believing in the power of unity to move our nation forward. ✨ Join us in honoring a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
