Carrying on from yesterday’s article about hypnosis and how it works, my second hypnosis session is called “Ride Like You Dream Of”. And it has a slightly different purpose. This one is all about having a goal — that big, exciting WHY that got you into riding (or kept you dreaming about it) in the first place. People forget their goals through being frightened. One minute it’s “I want to ride in Texas” (wide open trails, cowboy vibes, that sense of freedom and adventure), or “I’ll join the mounted police” “ I’ll live with the Whittakers” “ I’ll ride Badminton”, the next it’s shrunk down to “I don’t want my head to come off” or “I just want to get through this without falling off / looking stupid / upsetting my horse.” @ Fear has a sneaky way of shrinking our horizon until the dream feels impossible, and survival mode takes over. But when we can re-find that original WHY — that vivid, pulling-toward-you dream — then the HOW becomes so much easier. The nerves don’t disappear overnight, but they lose their grip because you’re moving toward something meaningful instead of just running away from disaster. “Ride Like You Dream Of” is designed to help you do exactly that: • Reconnect deeply with your personal riding dream (whether it’s hacking across vast landscapes like Texas, competing at a certain level, trail riding with friends without worry, or simply feeling at one with your horse again). • Bring that goal back into sharp, emotional focus so it lights you up rather than feeling distant or scary. • Use guided visualisation in hypnosis to mentally rehearse riding as that dream version of yourself — calm, capable, joyful, aligned with your purpose. • Anchor that inspired, motivated state so you can tap back into it when fear tries to creep in and derail you. The session helps shift the subconscious narrative from avoidance (“don’t mess up”) to approach (“this is taking me closer to what I really want”). Riders often tell me that after listening regularly, they start noticing little mindset flips: the butterflies feel more like excitement than dread, small steps feel purposeful again, and suddenly the practical stuff (breathing techniques, seat position, groundwork) clicks into place more naturally because the big picture is pulling you forward. In short: • “Enjoy Your Horse” rebuilds the positive anchor so riding = joy and relaxation (undoing years of worry associations). • “Ride Like You Dream Of” reignites your WHY, keeps the dream alive and vivid, and makes progress feel exciting rather than just “surviving” the ride. They complement each other perfectly — many start with “Enjoy Your Horse” to get back some baseline enjoyment, then move to this one to aim higher. What’s your big riding dream right now? The one that got buried under nerves but still flickers when you let yourself think about it? Share it in the comments if you feel like it — saying it out loud (even online!) can make it feel more real again. No dream is too big or too small here. 💭🐴✨ Questions about either session?
