Alone. That’s how she felt. So why not run away? After all, she’d been used and abused by the ones who were supposed to care for her. They didn’t even call her by name. “The servant” is all she was to them. Not someone to be seen, to be known. But then it happened. He appeared, and called her by name: “Hagar.” And not only that, He wanted to hear, “Where are you going? And where have you been?” As if He cared. As if He saw her. But who was she to be seen? She was an Egyptian, a slave, a woman, and pregnant at that. But He saw her. So she couldn’t help but proclaim, “You are the God who sees me!” This season, no matter how others treat us, may we know that we are seen and known by a God who loves us and cares for us. A God who knows us by name. May we enter this season of prayer by echoing Hagar’s heart to our Heavenly Father, “You are the God who Sees Me!” #itstimetopraybold #boldbiblestudy
