I’m genuinely shocked by how many so-called “roofing companies” across the Scottish Borders are using bad weather to scare homeowners into paying for work they simply don’t need 😡 I was called out to a property earlier this week after a homeowner noticed a damp patch appearing upstairs after the heavy rain. Another roofer had already been out, taken one quick look from the ground, and told them the whole roof was failing. His recommendation? A full replacement costing just under £10,000. Thankfully, before agreeing to anything, they decided to get a second opinion and gave me a call. I got the ladders up, inspected the roof properly, and found the real problem within minutes — a small section of damaged flashing near the chimney that had lifted during the wind. I secured it, resealed the area properly, checked over the rest of the roof while I was there, and the issue was sorted. Total cost? £140. Not £10,000. I’m Billy from McCulloch Roofing, and I’ve been working on roofs across the Scottish Borders for years. I don’t believe in scare tactics, pressure sales, or inventing problems that don’t exist. I believe in giving people honest advice and doing the job properly. Here’s what you can expect when I inspect your roof: ✅ A proper hands-on roof inspection — not guesses made from the driveway 📸 Clear photos and videos so you can see the issue for yourself 🛑 Honest advice if the repair is minor — or if nothing needs doing at all 💷 A clear written quote with no hidden extras or surprise costs later on Because we’re busy working on roofs every day, we can only offer a limited number of FREE roof inspections each week. So if you’ve got a leak, storm damage, or you’ve recently been given a quote that doesn’t sit right with you, press “Get Quote” below and arrange a free inspection. No pressure. No nonsense. Just honest advice from a local roofer you can trust. Cheers, Billy | McCulloch Roofing
