The “(UN)KNOWN HIROKO KOSHINO New / True Perspectives of Hiroko Koshino” is currently open at Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. Hiroko Koshino has been a leading figure in Japanese fashion and expressive culture. In this exhibition, works have been carefully selected from the vast body of her output spanning over half a century that strongly resonate with contemporary sensibilities and values. These works are overlaid with the social and cultural contexts of each era, along with relationships to artistic expressions of the time. The exhibition delves deeply into the essence of her expression through the questions: “Why did this form of expression emerge?” and “What meaning can it carry today?” This exhibition also features works created by children as part of the “Next Creation Program: Kids’ Fashion Project” (organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Arts Council Tokyo [Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture]), supervised by Hiroko Koshino.
