We sing a hymn at my church almost every Sunday that makes grown men close their eyes. Last month I looked up the verse it's quoting. That verse is not in any Protestant Bible. The men who wrote these hymns were reading from a bigger Bible than the one on my nightstand. I need to tell you what I found. Because once you see it, you will never sing these hymns the same way again. The first one led me to the Wisdom of Solomon. Chapter 3. "The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God." That is the hymn they sang at my father's funeral. Those words come from a book that is not in my Bible. The Wisdom of Solomon was in the Bible for over a thousand years. The original 1611 King James included it. Then publishers removed it. To save on printing costs. Not a theological decision. An economic calculation. And nobody updated the hymnals. The songs kept quoting texts the Bible stopped including. For 300 years. The music preserved what the printers removed. The hymn writers had a bigger Bible. Their songs drew from the complete library. Then the library was reduced. And the songs became orphans — quoting parents that had been taken away. But the hymns are only the most audible evidence. Behind them is a much larger library. The Book of Enoch is four ancient volumes. And almost every edition sold today only contains one of them. 1 Enoch is the text Jude quoted. The Watchers. The Nephilim. The sentencing. The Son of Man prophecy. All 108 chapters. 2 Enoch answers Genesis 5:24 — "God took him." Where Enoch went. What the Creator revealed. The names and ranks of the angelic order. The architecture of the heavens mapped level by level. 3 Enoch reveals what happened to Enoch after he arrived. He was transformed. His flesh became flame. He was given a new name — Metatron. Placed on a throne beside God. Given authority over every angel in existence. A human being elevated above every celestial entity ever created. The Book of Giants tells the story from the Nephilim's own perspective. Their prophetic nightmares of the flood. One giant dreaming of a tablet plunged underwater — every name washed away except three. Enoch's reply was final. Judgment sealed. No escape. This text was recovered from the Dead Sea caves, resting right beside Genesis and Isaiah. But Enoch was only part of what was taken. My Bible has 66 books. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church has had 88 — for over 1,600 years. Twenty-two books were removed from mine. They never removed a single one from theirs. These are not obscure texts. Jude 1:14 — in your New Testament right now — quotes the Book of Enoch by name and calls it prophecy. The Dead Sea Scrolls confirmed that Enoch is over 2,000 years old. It was found in the same caves, in the same jars, alongside the Book of Isaiah. In 1945, suppressed gospels were found sealed in a clay jar in the Egyptian desert — the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Philip, the Secret Book of John. Sixteen centuries underground. Someone chose to hide them instead of burning them. Three locations. Three continents. An entire ancient library the early church studied. And none of it in the Bible on my nightstand. But the hymn writers had it. And they put it in the songs. For 300 years the music has been pointing to texts the Bible stopped including. But getting your hands on the real library is not easy. And that is not by accident. Try assembling it yourself. Ethiopian Bibles on Amazon that print "88 Books" on the cover but contain 59. Books of Enoch that only have one volume out of four. Dead Sea Scrolls editions that are academic summaries, not actual translations. You will spend well over a thousand dollars and still end up with mismatched translations and critical texts missing throughout. Then I found Library of Alexandria. Do not take my word for it — look them up yourself. Search them on Audible. Check the copyright page. They are a real publisher with a real catalog. You can verify them in thirty seconds. They did what nobody else had done. They went directly to the oldest surviving sources and assembled the most complete sacred library you can own in English. Five matching volumes. 2,626 pages. One consistent modern English translation — not King James, not academic, not buried in footnotes. The same clear English across all five books so every cross-reference actually works. 📖 Volume I — The Holy Bible. 866 pages. All 66 books. Genesis to Revelation. 📖 Volume II — The Complete 88-Book Ethiopian Bible. 834 pages. All 22 excluded books — Jubilees, Maccabees, the Wisdom of Solomon, and 19 more. 📖 Volume III — The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible. 327 pages. The actual translated texts — not a commentary about them. 📖 Volume IV — The Nag Hammadi Scriptures. 278 pages. The Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Philip, the Secret Book of John — readable, not buried in footnotes. 📖 Volume V — The Complete Books of Enoch. 321 pages. I asked: "Did you know three of the hymns we sang today quote books that aren't in our Bible?" He looked at me for a long time. Then he nodded. He said: "Because I didn't know how to open that door without being asked to walk through it. You just asked." The songs have been pointing to this library for 300 years. Now you can read what they have been pointing to your entire life. 👉 https://libraryofalexandria.com/products/ethiopian-bible-library?view=ethbible-b&fbclid=fbclid Read what the hymns have been quoting for 300 years. 👉 https://libraryofalexandria.com/products/ethiopian-bible-library?view=ethbible-b&fbclid=fbclid P.S. — I do not make any money from this. I just traced the hymns I have been singing my whole life back to their source texts. Three of them quote books that are no longer in my Bible. Library of Alexandria assembled the complete library. Five volumes. 2,626 pages. I am just another churchgoer who finally looked up the references. P.P.S. — If the link still works, sets are still available. They print 500 at a time and I have seen them sell out. I will update this when they are not.
