This #NationalFishingMonth, cast off into the world of keen angler and artist Barrie Cooke (1931-2014). Barrie was an artist with a lifelong passion for fishing and a fascination for water. Living simply amongst the waterways and limestone landscapes of County Clare, he created sensual paintings and sculptures that responded to the cycles of life and death he saw around him. Barrie Cooke’s deepest friendships were with poets, including Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes (pictured here with Barrie). We follow their story across five decades, through letters, manuscripts and artworks. At the heart of the exhibition flow the rivers that inspired and sustained them – and, of course, Barrie’s love for fishing! 🎟️ FREE entry.
