1998 40th Anniversary Boston Whaler 13 Limited Edition #210 100% Original and Exceptional Love Whalers too? Follow York County Manrine on our very popular Facebook page, or our website! Here at York County Marine, we don’t bring in many 13’ Whalers, but we do get excited about these super rare, special anniversary edition models! In 1998 Boston Whaler celebrated the 40th anniversary of the iconic 13’ “Unsinkable Legend” with a beautiful throwback model. The interior of these limited edition Whalers was finished in the classic robins egg blue gelcoat, not seen in a Boston Whaler since 1972. The standard stainless steel steering wheel was replaced with a white powdered coated version emulating the look of the original 13 footer's, the black rub rail was replaced with classic white and a brass plaque was added to the mahogany console, depicting the number of the boat in series, not unlike a piece of limited edition fine art. Speaking of art - To help with the 40th Anniversary celebration, Boston Whaler also commissioned a painting by (late) artist Ralf Dunagan, a water color, depicting a Classic 13 footer pulled up on a marshy beach. A limited edition lithograph reproduction was to be included with each Anniversary model sold. - We may, or may not have one we’re willing to throw in.. Boston Whaler also commissioned the Danbury Mint factory to make a highly detailed, limited edition 40th Anniversary 1/24th scale model of the 13 footer. YCM uses these die-cast models in our advertising campaigns, and they often sell for well over a thousand dollars to Boston Whaler enthusiasts. -We have one or two of those sitting around for sale as well.. If you wanted a new 13' Whaler 1998, the up-charge was only a few hundred dollars for the blue interior, limited run Whaler -so most were simply thrown into service like any other 13 footer -bottom painted, fished, crabbed, skied, and bumped around, mostly in salt. The rough ones are rare enough, but finding an all original, garage kept, freshwater example some 28 years later is exceptionally rare! For over 60 years now the 13’ Whaler has been the dream of nearly every young aspiring boater -it is the most recognized, nostalgic and iconic hull ever produced. There were 250 of these 40th Anniversary Whalers built, ours is #210. She's a true, unmolested, all original survivor, with no non-factory holes drilled anywhere! Senior owned, never abused, very low hours. Powered by the original, Mercury 40 hp two stroke with electric start, power trim and tilt and oil injection. The outboard is as pretty as the boat! Factory side rails, cushions, galvanized trailer, and includes original owner's manuals, and the Red Boston Whaler Pouch. We've added a brand new WM J Mills full mooring cover - this high quality canvas cover retails for $1,300, and has patented clips that attach to the factory rubrail - no holes drilled! - WM J Mills was Boston Whalers factory supplier of all things canvas for over 40 years.
