I was tired of paying agencies for reports every month. Now an AI agent runs our SEO, so I can focus on the business. I run an HVAC company in South Jersey. 11 employees. Out on jobs by 7am most days. For two years I paid an SEO agency $1,500 a month. Every month I got a PDF. Rankings. Impressions. Traffic graphs. Every month I asked the same question: where are the calls? Our organic calls went from 4 a month to 6. In 12 months. I tried posting on Facebook three times a week for four months. Total inbound calls from that: 2. I was doing all of this after 10-hour days on the tools. So I stopped everything and started asking a different question. Not "how do I rank better." But "why isn't any of this actually working." That's when I went deep in an r/localSEO Facebook group one night. BrightLocal published a report in March 2026. It showed that AI tool usage for finding local businesses jumped from 6% in 2025 to 45% in 2026. One year. 6% to 45%. 31% of people used ChatGPT specifically to find a local business in the last 12 months. So I typed into ChatGPT: "Who is the best HVAC company near Voorhees New Jersey." It gave me three names. Mine wasn't one of them. I went back to that thread and kept reading. Someone posted a link to Google's own Business Profile help page. It said directly: businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local results. It also said Google looks at how many articles, links, and reviews exist about a business when deciding who to recommend. The SEO agency was sending me reports about traffic. Google was looking for something completely different. Then I pulled up our website. Homepage. About page. One services page listing AC, heating, duct cleaning. Nothing about Voorhees specifically. Nothing about Marlton or Haddonfield or Medford. No pages that matched the kinds of questions people were typing into Google or asking ChatGPT. A Pew Research Center study from July 2025 showed that AI summaries appeared on 60% of searches starting with "who," "what," "where," "why," or "how." Think about how your customers search. "Who is the best HVAC company near me." "Which roofer is recommended in [neighborhood]." Those are question searches. AI answers most of them now. So if your site doesn't have content that answers those questions for your specific area, AI has nothing to pull from. It skips you. Here's the part that stopped me cold. To get recommended, you don't just need one services page. You need specific pages for every town you serve. Pages built around every question your customers actually ask. Pages that tell Google exactly what you do, where you do it, and why you should be trusted. For a company serving 8 to 10 towns across multiple service types, that's dozens of pages. No SEO agency I could afford was going to write all of that. And I certainly wasn't going to write it myself at 10pm after a full day on the tools. That's when I found what other owners in that group were actually doing. A few of them were using an AI SEO agent that did all of it for them. It scanned their business, studied their competitors, looked at what locals were searching for, then built the pages their site was missing. Pages for each service area. Pages that answered the specific questions real people typed into Google and ChatGPT. I was skeptical. I had already wasted $18,000 on an agency producing reports nobody called from. But one owner posted a screenshot of their organic calls going from 11 a month to 37 over five months. They shared the link, so I tried it. The setup was incredibly quick and easy, but the results weren't instant. The first month, nothing dramatic changed. By month three, our organic lead count went from 9 a month to 24. By month five it was 41. Now 86% of our leads come from Google and ChatGPT. $4,200 a month in Google Ads turned off completely. The thing I keep coming back to is this. I didn't change how hard I work. I'm still out on jobs every day. The difference is that while I'm doing that, the AI agent is building the pages that get us recommended. No monthly PDF. No agency check-ins. No vanity metrics. Just pages going up and calls coming in. If your website still has one services page and no local content for each town you serve, AI has almost nothing to recommend you for. That's not a branding problem. That's a content volume problem. The customers are already there. AI is already recommending someone. The question is whether it's you. 🚨📢EDIT: My bad I forgot to share link to the AI agent, so my DMs are full of questions.
