When @daanroosegaarde first discovered this building in the harbor of Rotterdam over a decade ago, it was already marked for demolition. It had survived the Second World War and was one of the few still standing. Now it was cold, broken, and full of dust. Daan stood there in the center, looking up at the ceiling, and felt something come over him. The building gave him a small wink: playful and full of potential. So we got to work. We peeled back the walls, cleared the clutter, tore out the shattered windows, and replaced them with new ones. Each step felt like tending to a sleeping dream… restoring, reviving, bringing breath back into something that still wanted to live. The process mirrored the birth of dreams and artworks we know so closely. We restored the original 1932 historical steel structure, honoring its bones, its memory, its courage. And slowly, almost shyly, the light began to return. It poured in through the new windows, spilled across the floors, and revealed what this place could become.
