One thing that distinguishes me (and several others in the Democratic Party) from most of my colleagues is that I rely virtually entirely on grassroots donations and support, the vast majority being small-dollar, to fund my campaign. The average donation to my campaign floats around $16-19. I reject all corporate money and have been very vocal about the need to get dark money influence out of the party and politics in general. The influence money has is absolutely atrocious. I don’t take meetings with lobbyists, and I don’t curry favor with billionaires. I do this so that I can legislate and operate independently from our corrupting system of campaign finance and revolving door politics. I’m relying on grassroots supporters who have my back — if you can, can you chip in $5 to my campaign?
