I was nineteen years old when I walked in on my stepbrother touching himself in the bathroom, moaning my name desperately. I hadn't meant to stay awake. I had just wanted to get a glass of water from the kitchen when I heard it. Loud and clear. My name. "Liana... Eff..." I froze, my heart thumping wildly. It was late that night, exactly 3 a.m. The house was quiet. Killian had come home for a short visit after being away for a year because of work, though to this day I still had no idea what kind of job he actually did. He didn't live with us. He had his own house across town and rarely visited. He only showed up on special occasions or when his mother insisted. Since the day my dad married his mom, I had only seen him twice. I still clearly remembered the first time I laid eyes on him that year, three years ago. My jaw nearly hit the floor. He looked like a walking Greek god, every inch of him giving off power and confidence, the kind you couldn't fake. But he never noticed me. He treated me like I didn't exist. It hurt more than I expected, but I tried not to take it personally. He was seven years older than me after all. Maybe to him I was just a silly kid. I heard his mother had him when she was barely more than a teenager. Maybe that explained the distance. Or maybe he just didn't care. When he came home, he didn't even look at me during dinner. He never smiled. Never spoke unless someone asked him something directly. and he never joined in any family talks. It was as if he wasn't even there, even while he sat right at the table with us. His mother though had been nothing but warm. From the moment she came into our lives, she became the mother I never had. My own mom passed away two years after she gave birth to me, so I never got to know what it felt like to be held by her or called sweetheart or tucked in at night with a kiss. But Killian's mother filled that hole without hesitation. She loved me like I was her own. and it wasn't forced, it was pure, the kind of love that made me feel safe. The only one who stayed cold was her son. Killian never smiled at me. Never spoke to me. Never even acted like I was there except for an occasional cold glance. and yet deep down some part of me always wanted to know what it would feel like if Killian really saw me. If he said my name. If I meant anything to him. Even a little. So hearing my name from his mouth while he was pleasuring himself was something I hadn't expected at all. It was shocking. Wrong. Twisted. But it was also the first time I ever heard him say my name. And as messed up as it sounds, part of me couldn't stop my legs from moving toward the sound. Every part of me said turn back. But I couldn't. I didn't want to. I wanted to know if it was real. If I was really the one he imagined while he stroked himself like that. The door was slightly open. Light spilled out like a secret waiting to be exposed. I pushed it open. And there he was. Killian. Without any cloth. Standing in front of the mirror. His hand was wrapped tight around his cok, thick and veiny and hard. His other hand was gripping the sink. His back muscles tensed, while his jaw clenched like he was holding back a growl. He looked like some untamed god, raw, wild, and completely lost in the thought of me. My name was still on his mouth. He moaned it like it hurt. Like he needed it to survive. Like I was the only thing that could save him from whatever fire had taken him. I didn't breathe. I didn't blink. I just stood there and watched. My upper legs pressed together. My heart was rising and falling. My skin burned between my legs. I hated how wet I felt just watching him stroke his cok like I already belonged to him. Then I made a small sound. A gasp. His head turned fast. Our eyes locked. Time froze. I saw it all, the red on his cheeks, the sweat on his body, the way his hand paused but didn't let go. The way his eyes turned dark. Hungry. Then the moment shattered. "Get OUT!" he yelled. He slammed the door so hard I felt the floor shake under me. I stumbled back, my breath gone, my legs shaking as I ran down the hallway like a girl who had just seen something she could never forget. I shut my door and fell onto the bed. My heart was pounding. But not from shame. From want. He had thought of me. He had wanted me. And now I was soaked with need for him. My hands shook as I touched my mouth trying to calm down, but it was no use. All I could see was the way he held his cok. All I could hear was my name coming out of his mouth. I wanted to taste him, feel that heat on my skin, make him say my name again, but this time with me on my knees, his hand tangled in my hair. I hated myself for wanting that. But not enough to stop. --- The next morning I tried to stay away from him. I stayed in my room holding my breath every time I heard footsteps in the hall. I waited until our parents left before sneaking to the kitchen. But he was already there. Waiting. He didn't say a word. He didn't let me lie or act like nothing happened. He walked toward me like he already knew what I had dreamed about all night. as if he could smell the need on my skin. as if he felt the heat between my legs without even touching me. He grabbed my waist and slammed me against the fridge so hard I gasped. My hands hit his upper body but he didn't move. He didn't step back. His whole body was pressed against mine. His breath was on my face. His voice a low growl. "Did you come into the hall last night because you wanted to see me touch myself to you?" "Killian—" "Answer me!" he snapped. One hand pressed my curves to the fridge. The other slid up my lower body. I couldn't speak. My breath was caught in my throat. My knees were shaking. He saw it. "Oh. You're already squeezing those pretty legs, huh?" he said with a low laugh. His eyes dropped to my mouth. Then to my bosom. My body tensed. My mouth parted. "You stood there and watched me stroke myself thinking about you. and you liked it. Didn't you?" I whimpered. "I-I wasn't trying to—" "Trying to what?" he whispered near my mouth. "Trying to get caught? Trying to see if your filthy big stepbrother touches himself to the thought of your tight little puss?" I shook. My legs moved. My underwear was wet. His hand moved between my legs and pressed hard through the fabric. He didn't have to look. He knew. I was soaked. Dripping. "You're wet," he growled. He pressed harder. I gasped. "Just from words. Just from me saying your name while I came." "Killian please—" I had no idea what I was begging for. He pushed again. His fingers ground into my heat. My back arched. My head hit the fridge. "I should make you come right here," he growled. "Rub this needy core until it cries. Until it drips down your legs. Until it begs for my cok. Until it only knows how to want me." I gasped. I moaned. My legs clamped. My nails clawed at his shoulders. "I want to ruin you," he whispered in my ear. "So bad. So f-ing bad. But I can't." He moved his hand away, as slow as he could, while his body was still hard. Still shaking. He looked me in the eyes, dark and full of fire. "You want this?" he asked. I blinked, breathing heavy. "I—I don't—" "Good. Because if you had any self-respect you'd forget this ever happened." CHAPTER TWO LIANA'S POV I rushed back to my room, my heart beating frantically. I couldn't think right. Not after what just happened in the kitchen, not after the way he touched me, pressed into me, spoke to me like he owned every part of me. He didn't even need to bang me to ruin me, he already had, with his words, with that look in his eyes, that hunger, that darkness. I kept seeing his fingers, the way he rubbed me through my underwear like he could feel everything, the way he growled when he realized how wet I was, the way he leaned in and told me he wanted to ruin me. I was back in my room now, but it was no use. I couldn't think of anything else, I couldn't stop my legs from pressing together again, couldn't stop my fingers from twitching with the need to touch myself. But it wasn't enough, nothing would be enough unless it was him. I slid my hand down. I was still soaked, still aching. The lace nightgown I wore was seductive, I had worn it on purpose. I stripped off my underwear too because I didn't want anything between me and what I was hoping for. My breath hitched as I ran my fingers lower. I was so sensitive, so ready. I imagined him standing over me again, imagined him shoving my legs apart and seeing what he did to me, imagined him saying my name again, growling it with that same wild fire I saw earlier. "Jeez," I whispered, biting my mouth as my fingers dipped lower. and then I heard a knock on my door. I froze. My heart skipped, my breath stopped. I sat up, as if my body already knew. It was him. Killian. We were the only one at home. I stood. My legs felt weak, my whole body buzzed as if I had been waiting for this moment all my life, and every brush of the fabric on my niples was making me flinch, my core pulsed with need. I reached for the handle and I opened the door. He stood there looking so dangerous and completely unhinged by whatever fire was burning inside him. His shirt was open, barely hanging off his shoulders, his belt hung loose, his pants sat low on his waist, his upper body rose and fell as if he had just run a mile. But that wasn't exhaustion on his face. It was pure hunger. His eyes landed on me, and everything stopped. "You're a f-ing seductress, you know that, right?" He stepped forward, pushed me back, shut the door behind him with one hand, his other hand already reaching for me. I stumbled a little, my knees turning weak. "I can't f-ing breathe," he growled. "Not when you look at me like that, not when I know you're dripping under this thin little thing." My mouth parted, a soft moan slipped out. He hadn't even touched me yet and I was already close. His hand grabbed my jaw, forcing me to look up. "Tell me to leave, Liana," he growled, his voice low, ragged, as if he was barely hanging on. "Because if you don't, I'm going to f-ing ruin you." His upper body was rising and falling against mine, hard and fast, as though he was wrestling with something deep inside that was already slipping out of control. His jaw clenched, his eyes dark and wild, almost desperate. "I've been telling myself to stay away from you since the second I walked into this house. Every night I told myself I'd keep my distance. That I'd ignore the way you looked at me. That I wouldn't touch you, no matter how bad I wanted to. But you… you make it impossible. Walking around in those tiny nightdresses, acting as if you don't know exactly what you're doing, looking at me like you need something. and God, I want to be that something so so desperately." He leaned in slowly, his forehead almost touching mine, while his breath fanned across my mouth. His voice dropped into a whisper, one that trembled with restraint. "Say the word, Liana. Tell me to go. Because if you don't... I swear I won't stop this time." "I... I—" I stammered, my voice trembling. His mouth brushed my ear. "You want it," he whispered. "Say it." "I—I want it." "Say you want my cok inside you." I moaned. "I want it... I want your cok inside me, please." He growled and pushed me onto the bed. My nightgown rode up, my legs opened, and I watched his eyes turn wild. "Liana... f-..." he muttered. "You're a mess down here. For me." He dropped to his knees between my legs, spread me with two fingers. "Look at this," he said, running a finger through my folds. "You're dripping, all for me." I arched against him, letting out a desperate moan. He slid one finger inside of me, slow and deep. I cried out. Then another. His thumb rubbed slow circles on my tinny bud while his fingers curled inside me. I was shaking, panting, begging without words. I couldn't think, could only feel, every nerve burned. Then he pulled his fingers out and licked them clean. "Sweet," he said. "addictive." He unzipped his pants and let his junior out. His cok stood thick and angry between us, veins pulsing, tip flushed, clear fluid gathered at the head, betraying his desire. "You're going to take it," he said. "all of it, every inch, every time I thrust I want you to remember that no one else will ever own this puss. It's mine." He aligned himself. One push. Just the tip. I cried out. "Too much?" he asked. I shook my head. "More." He slid in deeper. I moaned louder. "More... More..." Then he slammed the rest of the way in. I screamed. The fullness, the stretch, it was everything, too much, way too perfect. He stayed still, buried deep, teeth gritted. "Jeez," he hissed. "You're tight, so f-ing tight, you were made for me." Then he moved. It was hard and deep. Every thrust of his sent electricity through me. My nails dug into his back, my legs wrapped around his waist, my body clung to his as if I had waited for this all my life. "I dreamed about this," he panted. "Jerking off like a loser while you slept down the hall, wanting to ruin you until you screamed my name." "Killian," I moaned. He slammed harder. "Louder." "Killian!" He moaned. "That's it, let them hear, let them know you're mine now." He reached between us and rubbed my aching spot fast. I shattered. MA jolt of pure ecstasy shot through me without warning. My body tensed, my eyes rolled, I screamed his name again, louder, rawer. He kept moving, chasing his own release. Then he poured his seed inside of me and collapsed beside me. He pulled me close. My head rested on his upper body, our breaths tangled, his hand stroked my back slowly. A soft kiss ghosted across my hair. His eyes widened as if he just realized what he did. He froze. Then slowly, his gaze dropped, and he saw it. The blood. a small, unmistakable stain on the sheet between my legs. Killian's entire body locked up. His breath hitched. His eyes went wide as if someone had just punched the air out of his lungs. and then, he ripped himself away from me as if my touch had become poison. "Shoot…" he whispered, backing away. "Oh eff. No—no…" He stood up so fast the bed jolted beneath me. His hand flew through his hair in one panicked, ragged motion. His face twisted with guilt, shame, disbelief. "You never been with anyone?" he rasped. His voice completely hollow. "It was your first time?" I didn't answer. I couldn't. My throat felt tight. My body still trembled from everything he'd just made me feel. But none of that mattered now. Not when I saw the way he looked at me, like he had done something unforgivable. "God. Liana…" he muttered. "I shouldn't have. I shouldn't have touched you. I shouldn't have come here. I shouldn't have let this happen." He took another step back. His hand dragged down his face, raw and shaking. "This was a mistake." He said it more to himself than to me. "a silly, selfish mistake. I lost control. I shouldn't have…" He stopped talking. His eyes flicked back to the blood. Then, to me. I had pulled the blanket up to my body, holding it tight as if it could somehow hold me together. Then, he did something that shattered me more than his words. He pulled out his wallet. Fingers shaking, he took out a thick wad of cash. and without even looking at me, without hesitating, he threw it onto the bed. The bills landed near my lower body. Right next to the blood. "I'm deeply sorry," he muttered. I flinched. Tears stung the corners of my eyes. His jaw clenched. His voice dropped, low and ragged. "I'm sorry." Then, he turned, walked to the door, opened it. and right before he stepped out, he whispered it again. Barely audible. "I'm sorry, Liana." Just like that... he left. and he never came back. CHAPTER THREE LIANA'S POV “Congratulations, Miss Liana. It's been five weeks since conception.” I felt my world shatter as I saw the truth printed in black and white. The report shook in my hand. The words were clear. The truth even clearer. Five weeks. Exactly five weeks since the night he came to my room. The night I let him in. The night I let him claim me, break me, ruin me. Killian Wolfe. My stepbrother. My first. My only. The man I couldn't stop dreaming about. Couldn't stop aching for. The man who had touched me like I was his and whispered that I belonged to him. The man who filled me to the brim, came inside me, held me through the night—then vanished. and now he had left something inside me. a part of him. Living. Growing. My knees gave out the moment I stepped out of the doctor's office. My body didn't shake because I was scared. It shook because I could still feel him. The sound of my name from his mouth as he came. He had broken me in the most beautiful way. and now he had left me with a secret I couldn't hide for long. What would I tell my stepmother? My father? That I was having baby with his stepson? That I couldn't stop thinking about the feel of his cok pounding into me, claiming me as if I was some obsession he refused to let go of? My hands held the report tight. I pressed it against my uppper body as if I could hold my heart together with just a piece of paper. I didn't go home right away. I needed time. I needed space. I needed to lie to myself for just a little longer. But in the end, I went back home. and that was when everything shattered again. The moment I opened the door I heard laughter. Happy and cheerful laughter. My stepmother's laugh. My father's deep chuckle. another woman's voice I didn't recognize. Then a sound that made my blood freeze. Killian. I walked deeper into the house and that was when I saw them. Killian was seated beside a beautiful woman. His hand rested lightly on her back. She looked perfect. Very classy. The kind of woman someone like him would marry. Her ring sparkled so bright it made my stomach twist. My stepmother was glowing and quite happy for her son, while my father looked proud. and there I stood. Pregnant, alone, and uninvited. “Liana,” Mother said. She smiled wide as if this was the best day of her life. “You're just in time. We have the most amazing news.” I couldn't speak. My gaze was fixed solely on Killian. He didn't flinch. He didn't blink. He pretended as if he didn't know me. “Killian is getting married,” Mother said. Her voice was way too bright. Way too cheerful. “To Cynthia. Isn't she just beautiful?” My throat burned and my heart tore into pieces. I wanted to scream. But I couldn't move. I could only look at him. My heart thumping wildly. He was getting married? Wow… Just wow. He hadn't called. Not once. Not after that night. Not after he ruined me. I had waited. Every single night. I waited for a message. a call. a knock. anything. But I got nothing. Now I was carrying his baby, and he was marrying someone else? I couldn't laugh nor cry. I just stared at him in disbelief. Cynthia turned to me and then smiled sweetly. “are you Liana?” she asked, and I nodded. “You're so cute.” I forced a smile on my face. She didn't know. She didn't know that just five weeks ago, he was moaning my name with his fist wrapped around himself. She didn't know he had been buried deep between my legs, moaning about how tight I was. She didn't know that his release had spilled inside me over and over until there was nothing left. and she definitely didn't know I was now carrying his baby in my womb. “Congrats…” I whispered. “That's… that's wonderful news.” Killian's eyes flicked to me. Just for a second. I gave him one last look and began to walk away. “Liana?” Mother called out softly. “aren't you going to stay? We were just about to cut a small cake to celebrate. Come join us, sweetheart.” I turned to face her with a weak smile. “I'm… really tired Mom,” I said gently. “I didn't sleep much last night. I just want to lie down for a bit.” “Oh… of course,” she said quickly. “You go and rest. We'll save you a slice.” I nodded and forced my legs to keep moving. and when I got to my room… I collapsed on the bed and began crying. CHAPTER FOUR LIANA'S POV That day I locked myself in my room and cried. Then at night, when everyone was already asleep, I heard a knock on my door. I knew who it might be, so I didn't answer. I didn't want to hear his voice again. I didn't want to see the man who promised me nothing but still managed to break every part of me. “Liana,” he said. I stayed silent. “Open the door.” “Get out!” I snapped angrily. I didn't want him to hear the pain in my voice. “I need you, Liana. Please… before I lose my mind.” He said, his voice trembling with desperation. “I said get out!” I shouted louder. For a while, I didn't hear the sound of his voice and I thought he had gone. It wasn't until he turned the knob of my door and it opened that I realized he hadn't left. “Killian. Please just go,” I said. “Just go.” He stepped into my room and walked straight to me. I stood up from my bed and tried to push him out with all the strength I had left, but he was just too strong for me. “Don't you dare,” I whispered as I pushed him again. “Don't you dare come near me.” He caught my wrist and yanked me closer with a soft thud, then crashed his mouth on mine. I gasped. No, no, no. I shouldn't be doing this. I fought him with my hands but his grip on me tightened as he deepened the kiss before releasing me and pressing his forehead on mine. I pulled away from him and pointed my fingers at him angrily. “You have a fiancée, Killian!” I screamed. “How dare you kiss me?!” I pushed him away. “Leave! Leave my room!” He didn't budge. Instead, he walked to my bed. Pulled off his shirt. Then his belt. Then his pants, until only his briefs were left. I turned away quickly, my heart pounding as I saw the thickness through his briefs. My hands clenched my clothes tightly. “What are you doing? This isn't right.” He didn't answer. “You're engaged. You brought her here. Dad and Mom have blessed your engagement. She's perfect. She's beautiful. Why are you doing this? Why are you still coming to me? Didn't you say the last time was a mistake?” I couldn't look at him. My body shuddered with pleasure. My brain was screaming ‘no', but my body was betraying me. “I'm still young… I'm nineteen, Killian. It was a mistake, I've accepted that. I'm trying to move on. I've met someone. Someone I'm starting to fall for.” He growled and yanked me to him. I could see the rage and anger in his eyes. His jaw was clenched tight. “You will never have anyone,” he growled. “Do you hear me? You are mine. You'll always be mine.” I scoffed, pushing him off me. “You're delusional. You have a fiancée and I can't move on? What more do you want from me, huh? Haven't I already given you everything?! Why can't you just leave me the heck alone?!” He stared at me. I could see different emotions flickering in his gaze. Then he grabbed my hand and forced it against his cok. “This. This is what you do to me. No one else. Only you.” I ripped my hand away. “Let your fiancée do that for you. Not me. Get out!” I turned to the door and tried to open it, but he grabbed me, and then threw me on the bed. Before I knew it, he climbed on top of me. The expression on his face was different from anything I'd seen before. I could see hunger. Obsession. Possessiveness. He pinned me and started tearing my clothes. My heart pounded with panic and need. His fingers found my wetness. He paused. “See? Only I can do this to you. Your body knows who it belongs to.” “Stop. Please,” I whimpered, but my body betrayed me. His fingers teased. Dipped. Rubbed while my legs shook and my body begged to be touched by him. “Say it,” he whispered against my neck. “Say you want me.” “Yes…” I cried out, breathless and desperate. Then he thrust in. One deep, claiming stroke that stole my breath. He moved hard and fast and rough. His gaze didn't leave mine as he thrust. I closed my eyes, not wanting to look at him. “Open your eyes,” he commanded. I shook my head and looked the other way. “Liana. Open your eyes. Look at me as I am inside you,” he said again, and when I didn't comply, he tilted my face to him and plunged deeper into me, making my eyes fly open in shock as a gasp left my waist. “Good,” he said, and then slammed his mouth on mine and kissed me senseless. “Five weeks,” he grunted. “Five weeks without you. Without this. You don't know what it did to me.” He slammed deeper. I clawed the sheets. “This puss is mine,” he growled. “Say it.” “It's yours…” I sobbed. “Say my name.” “Killian. Please. Killian.” A wave of intense pleasure crested and crashed over me in an instant and I screamed. My walls clamped around him. “Shhh… don't let them find out.” He covered my mouth with his and kissed me roughly while he slammed deeper. He moaned. Lost control, and came inside me again. He stayed deep. Riding it out. Then it ended. He collapsed on top of me and then rolled off. He pulled me closer to him and kissed my hair. “You're sweet,” he said, nuzzling my hair and breathing in my scent. “Don't marry her,” I found myself saying as I held him close and placed a soft kiss on his bare body. “Please. Be with me. I'll be anything. Your secret. Your side girl. Just… just don't marry her.” He was silent. “Killian. I have something to tell you…” I began, wanting to tell him about the baby. But before I could even speak, he stood up and pulled on his pants. Sweat dripped down his upper body. “Killian—” “Don't,” he cut me off. “Don't say anything.” “It's… it's important—” “Nothing is more important right now than marrying her,” he said. “Why..?” I asked, my voice cracking. He looked at me. His expression was icy and cold. No trace of what just happened. “Don't ask me why. You won't like the answer.” And then he left, slamming the door behind him. I lay there. My legs open. My body used. My heart shattered. Tears streamed down my face. He had used me. Again. Why did I let him? Why? Just why..? I dragged myself to the bathroom and scrubbed my skin raw, but the ache between my legs stayed. I stared at the mirror. My eyes were red. My hands were shaking. I placed a trembling palm on my stomach. On the soft curve that didn't show yet… but soon would. His baby. “I'm sorry, baby,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “Your mother is such a fool.” More tears streamed down my cheeks, but this time I wiped them away. No. I wasn't going to let this keep happening. I wouldn't let him use me whenever he pleased. If I stayed, I'd let him ruin me again. But if I left, if I disappeared, he wouldn't be able to find me. I dried myself off and walked back into my room. My body felt sore. My heart was empty, but I moved anyway. I opened my closet, pulled out a duffel bag and started packing. I threw in a few clothes, some cash and every necessity I needed. I had to run. I had to leave. Killian didn't love me. He was obsessed with my body, with control, but not me. He didn't want me. And he definitely didn't want this baby. How could I confront Dad when it became clear I was expecting? How could I look Mom in the eyes? How would I tell them I was carrying Killian's baby? This family would be destroyed because of our mistake. Dad would blame himself. Mom would blame her son. The life they've built… would crumble. And I couldn't do that to them. No. No. I couldn't keep staying here. Not like this. I had to leave. For my baby. For our future. So I did. I didn't say goodbye. I didn't leave a letter. I just left. CHAPTER FIVE KILLIAN'S POV It had been seven painful years. Seven years since I last saw her face, since Liana walked out of my life without a single word or a second glance, since I broke her heart and walked away like it didn't mean anything, like I hadn't just lost the only person who ever truly mattered to me. and now? Now I was drowning in the same silence I forced on her. I kept telling myself I did it for her. That I was doing the right thing. That if I was cruel enough, if I pushed her far away, if I shattered her heart first, maybe she'd forget me. Maybe she would move on and be away from the mess I had become. But that was a lie. She never left me. Not even for a second. She lived inside my heart like a scar that refused to fade. I saw her everywhere. I heard her laugh in my dreams. I felt her hands on my skin even when I touched other women. It was never the same. It never would be. She was stuck in my head. I had built an empire since then. Wolfe International. I was the youngest alpha to rule both the human world and the werewolf world. I sat on top of a throne built with power, money, respect. I had every thing a man could want. But I didn't have peace. Because I didn't have her. and I knew I didn't deserve her. She was my fated mate, the one the moon gave me. But I ruined it. I ruined her. She was only sixteen when I felt the bond snap into place, that burning connection that tied her soul to mine. She was my stepsister. a human. The daughter of the man who married my mother. Sweet. Innocent. Untouched. Everything I shouldn't want. But I did. I wanted her more than I wanted air. So I stayed away. I told myself it would fade. That if I disappeared long enough, the bond would break. I ignored my mother's calls. I missed holidays, dinners. I buried myself in work just to avoid her. It didn't work. When she turned nineteen, my mother begged me to come home. I told myself I could handle it. Just one dinner. One night. The second I stepped inside the house and took in her scent... I knew I was totally screwed. I couldn't look at her. I couldn't speak. I sat across from her like a robot while my whole body burned. That night, I locked myself in the bathroom like a sick pervert and touched myself while whispering her name like a prayer. Then I heard her gasp. She saw me. She saw everything. and instead of walking away... instead of stopping like I should have, I gave in. I went to her room the next morning when no one was home. and I made her mine. Because she was mine. But after it was done... when she lay there with trust in her eyes and hope on her face, I left. I didn't even say goodbye. I ran like a coward. Just like my father did. He was an alpha too, fated to a human, my mother. But he let the elders pick his Luna. He pushed my mother aside and married someone else. She left him. She rebuilt her life. She married andrew Rivers and raised me the right way. and still, I became the same monster. I came back to that house a few weeks later with another woman by my side. Cynthia. The Luna they wanted for me. The perfect choice on paper. But not the one I wanted. Not the one I needed. Not Liana. and the second the ache became too much, I did the unthinkable again. I went to her room like a thief in the night and took what never stopped being mine. and after I took her... she begged me. I could remember it vividly, her voice trembling, her hands shaking, little streaks of tears on her face. "Don't marry her," she said. "Please. I'll be anything. Just don't marry her." and I walked out again. That was the day I destroyed everything. Because after that day, she disappeared. No note. No warning. Just gone. Her father searched everywhere. He blamed himself. But I knew the truth. I was the reason she ran. I made her feel used. I made her feel disposeble. and I've been punishing myself every day since. Until today. a knock on my office door snapped me out of my thoughts. One of my men stepped in, his face pale, his voice tense. "alpha," he said. "We found her." I stood up so fast my chair hit the wall. "What?" "She's alive," he said. "She's working in a hotel as a janitor." "a janitor?" I asked in disbelief. "But that's not all..." He slid a photo across the table. I picked it up. and everything inside me shattered. There she was. Thinner. Paler. Tired. But still mine. Still the girl who haunted every dream. and next to her… a little boy. Curly black hair. Dark eyes. My son. "She has a child," he whispered. "He's six." My throat closed. My heart exploded. "She didn't list a father. But she's been struggling, working double shifts. Sometimes skips meals so he can eat. She walks him to school. She's received two eviction warnings." My hands curled into fists. My mate. My child. and I wasn't there. "Bring. Her. To. Me." I growled. "alpha... I think we should—" "I said NOW!" --- LIANA'S POV I was on my knees, scrubbing the tile on the third floor like I always did as if I had no other purpose in the world, when the static hiss of the walkie-talkie clipped to my waist made me jump. "Liana. Report to Mr. Gregor's office. Now." My hand paused mid-scrub, my heart tightening. I sat back slowly, mop water dripping from my gloves. I wiped my face with my trembling sleeve, while my heart had already started racing. I didn't know why, but I had a bad feeling, a really bad one. I pushed the bucket aside and forced myself to my feet. My legs were shaking, and I didn't want to go, but I had no choice. I walked to the back corridor, the one staff used when we didn't want to be seen, when we weren't meant to be seen. I knocked once and peeked in. Mr. Gregor was behind his desk. His face was blank, his eyes cold. He didn't even say hello. "You're needed in Room 1904," he said as he tapped his screen. My voice was barely there. "R-Room 1904?" He nodded once. I blinked quickly, my voice cracking. "B-But I don't clean that hallway. I—I only do the lower floors, the cheap rooms. I—I don't go up there." He looked straight at me. "You're not going to clean." I gripped the edge of the doorframe, my heart starting to hurt. "T-Then... w-why am I going?" He shrugged, his mouth curling slightly. "He likes you. He wants to see you. Be there by seven o'clock." I shook my head. "N-No. I can't… I—I can't go." His eyes narrowed. "Then be ready to hand in your uniform tonight." Just like that. I opened my mouth, but I couldn't speak. I couldn't breathe. He meant it. I saw it in his eyes. "M-Mr. Gregor... p-please," I stuttered. "P-Please don't make me. I—I need this job. I—I've worked here for almost three years now. I've never been late. I—I clean better than anyone else here. P-please don't do this..." I clenched my fists at my sides as I blinked back the tears. I have a son. He's just a little boy. He needs me to keep this job. He depends on me for everything, for food, for rent, for school shoes I can't even afford. I didn't care what I had to do. I'd scrub the entire hotel with my bare hands if it meant keeping this job. Mr. Gregor didn't blink. "Please..." "Then be there," he said again. "Dress properly. Be neat." I nodded. I didn't even realize I was nodding until my neck started to ache. I stumbled out of his office, my hands shaking so hard I could barely hold the doorknob. I didn't dress properly. I didn't want to look nice. I didn't want to be looked at. at 6:45, I went into the changing room and stared at my face in the mirror. I looked pale, so pale I could barely recognize myself. I didn't fix it. I tied my hair in a bun, washed my face, changed back into my stained uniform. I left my cleaning gloves in the pocket. I didn't put on perfume. I didn't even touch my lipstick. at 6:59, I stood in front of Room 1904. My legs were shaking, my stomach felt like it was going to spill out of me. I raised my fist. I hesitated. Then I knocked. Once. Twice. The door opened slowly. I looked up, and the breath in my lungs vanished. My vision became blurry. My mouth shook. My knees almost gave out beneath me. My mouth opened, but my voice cracked with disbelief. "K-Killian?" I gasped.
