The mythology that Lucas has created is familiar yet different enough to keep the reader engaged and wanting more. The steamy sections are sexy without being crass or gross. And can I just say that the emphasis on female empowerment and consent is not only refreshing but also so wonderfully executed? It's neither trite nor preachy, and it's obvious to this reader that these are the true values of the writer. It makes the reading experience that much more enjoyable. I can easily read one of these books in a day, but I try to space it out so that I don't have to wait so long for the next book to come out! But if you're just starting this series, you won't have to worry about that for a while, as there are currently plenty of books in the series!! I hope this review helps others to give this series a try. It is one of my not so guilty pleasures that I get to enjoy a new book every month, and I hope Lucas never stops writing.
