If you want to build real financial freedom — start here: Increase your income. It’s not the sexy advice people expect… but it’s the most powerful move you can make. Because when your income grows — everything else gets easier. Saving gets easier. Investing gets easier. And reaching freedom gets a lot faster. The problem is… most PAs and NPs don’t realize how much they could actually be making. You could be in the same city, doing similar work — yet someone else in a different specialty or employer is earning twice as much. Or you could be in the same specialty, but in a different state, and still be underpaid by tens of thousands. You don’t have to believe me — the data is all public. Sites like MaritHealth.com literally map out salaries by location and specialty. Some employers straight up put their salaries on their website. The gap is real. But it’s also fixable. You don’t need to master every strategy — just get one right. Even a single change — the right job, employer, or pay structure — can completely shift your financial trajectory. That’s how my wife and I both grew our income to $200K+ each in under three years. At my peak, I earned $275K as a PA (this was my second year practicing) — by working for a the highest paying employer, job hopping and negotiating, stacking flexible side hustles. And because we invested along the way, we built six figures of passive income outside of medicine. Now we both work part-time… But have even more income coming in from our investments and jobs compared to when we were full-time! That’s what I call modern financial freedom — not waiting until 65, but creating real options now in your 30s & 40s. If you take anything from this — focus on increasing your income first. It’s the foundation that makes every other financial move work better.
