Attorneys are investigating whether consumers who used Honda’s HondaLink or Acura’s AcuraLink connected vehicle services may be entitled to seek compensation by filing a claim in arbitration against American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (“Honda”) and affiliates for potential violations of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, the California Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act, the California False Advertising Law, state unfair or deceptive trade practices statutes, the California Unfair Competition Law, the California Constitution’s right to privacy, and other related statutes and common law causes of action including unjust enrichment. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝? Honda and Acura drivers use HondaLink and AcuraLink connected vehicle service platforms and related telematics, infotainment, and connected-vehicle technologies for features like remote start, vehicle locator, and concierge services. Honda is alleged to have captured extensive driver and vehicle data, including precise geolocation, in-vehicle audio, driver behavior, and other sensitive information, and to have shared that data with consumer reporting agencies, data brokers, advertising companies, and other third parties for commercial purposes that may not have been adequately disclosed to consumers. Honda is also alleged to have continued capturing certain data even after consumers attempted to opt out, and to have retained that data for longer than necessary. These practices may violate federal and state privacy laws and consumer protection laws. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰: If you have used Honda’s HondaLink or Acura’s AcuraLink connected vehicle services in the last three years, you may be entitled to seek compensation by filing a claim in arbitration. You’re signing up to potentially participate in a process called “arbitration," which is a type of alternative dispute resolution similar in some ways to a lawsuit. It enables consumers to seek redress against a company that may have caused them harm. More information in the attorney letter to follow. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞? This is an attorney advertisement.
