'I'm sorry, but your scars are too severe for me to treat.' That was the third time I'd heard it. Three different doctors. Same devastating answer. I left that appointment, sat in my car, and cried for 20 minutes. Because what do you do when even the professionals tell you they can't help? I'd saved up for months. I'd researched everything. I was ready to finally fix my skin. But I kept hearing "too severe." Over and over. Then I learned something that changed everything: when doctors say your scars are "too severe," they're not saying you're hopeless. They're saying your skin isn't ready yet. The deep inflammation and texture need to calm down first before any procedure can even work. So I stopped trying to jump straight to invasive treatments and started with what my skin actually needed… a scientifically-backed pre-treatment to calm the severe, deep-trapped inflammation. After six weeks, my scars were softer, less raised, and the redness had finally calmed down. I haven't gone back to a dermatologist. Because my skin is healing on its own terms. If you've been told your scars are too severe, maybe you don't need a more expensive treatment. Maybe you just need to start where your skin actually is.
