Thank you to our patient for letting us share this very early, very complex revision progress post. She is shown just 2 months post op from a total nose reconstruction after 2 previous open rhinoplasties elsewhere. We used her rib, spreaders, double CSEG, LCSG, composite graft, and an SPF graft to rebuild her entire bridge and nose inside and out. Now, of course she is far from the final result, but these pics allow us to make some key points about recovery; 1. She has paper thin skin, and the skin is still bruised. This can take up to or even more than 6 months to resolve in some patients. 2. She is still swollen on front view. When we tell patients it takes years to heal, we are mostly referring to frontal bridge and tip width. The side views are much nicer much faster. The nose swells more outward than upward. Time and patience are critical. 3. Her decreased nostril show and much better symmetry were present immediately. This does not require much patience as it is present even on cast day. 4. Her supratip break, which was made somewhat deep on the table, has already almost filled in 100%. This again eludes to the point that this space must be created to allow it to fill in, or a polybeak can and will form. This is not an aesthetic preference I force on patients, this is a smart strategy that prevents complications post op.
