THE LORD JESUS CHRIST- THE ONLY WAY TO GOD — Part 2 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). Many aspects concerning the eternal glories of Heaven are presently beyond the capacity of our finite minds to comprehend fully. However, there is one aspect of Heaven that our Lord desires each of us to be fully cognizant of. That is the solitary pathway by which we may arrive there safely and securely! This powerful declaration in John 14:6 by the Lord Jesus Christ is one of the most definitive statements in the New Testament concerning the singular way of entrance into the Father's house. Notice these words of the Lord Jesus in verse 4, speaking to His original disciples carefully, "And where I go you know, and the way you know." The Lord Jesus often employed this teaching technique with His followers. Jesus would make a statement that would purposefully arouse vital questions in their minds. These were questions that our Lord desired to prompt His disciples to ask, so that He could give them the biblical answers they were in desperate need of apprehending and applying. The Lord knew that there were doctrinal gaps in their thinking processes that needed to be filled by Him. The Lord Jesus desired that they exit this discussion with a clearer understanding of "who He was and what He was about to accomplish" on their behalf. Take note how the Lord drew out a question He knew was consuming the minds of all of His little band of followers after His teaching in John 14:1-4. Thomas vocalizes his question, which undoubtedly, they all had. Thomas asked, "Lord, WE DO NOT KNOW where You are going, and how can we know the way?" How can we determine the direction to your destination? We don't know the destination. Sadly, Thomas and the rest of the disciples were still thinking horizontally rather than vertically. They were pondering and reckoning in the earthly realm rather than the spiritual realm. However, the Lord Jesus did not reveal a pathway to Heaven by giving a set of directions. He did not reveal the pathway to Heaven with a simple formula. On the contrary, God the Son declared that the pathway to Heaven was revealed to be both "in and through a Person!" The Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed, "I am THE WAY….no one comes to Father, except THROUGH ME." Do not neglect the utter exclusivity of this statement. The Lord Jesus Christ asserts a powerful declaration of His absolute uniqueness as the One and Only Savior of sinners! We are tragically living in an era of an "inclusive philosophy" that declares that there are many roads to God. In the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord called it 'the Broad Road' that leads to destruction. Multitudes are currently walking on the broad road of religious deception, who believe that there are multiple paths to come to God. They imagine that these conglomerations of pathways are merely different roads that lead to the same destination. They believe that God reveals Himself in ways other than the One who proclaimed, "I am THE WAY.” However, God the Son speaks with an unqualified exclusivity in John 14:6; there is no open-minded inclusivity in Jesus' declaration. He declares, "No one comes to God the Father unless they come through a saving relationship with God the Son." Moreover, the entirety of the biblical scriptures corroborates this exclusive proclamation of particularity. "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). The Lord Jesus singularly declared that, "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved." Also, Paul writes in Ephesians 2:18, "For through Him (Jesus) we both (Jew and Gentile) have access by one Spirit to the Father." 1 Timothy 2:5 clearly declares, "For there is one God and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus." The exclusivity of these verses makes it undeniably evident that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation! God the Son exclusively explains that, "I am the way, because I am the truth and I am the life." Friends, this is why I put my personal trust in the Lord Jesus Christ in 1980. I came to know that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father, because He is the perfect revelation of the Father! Dear ones, all are absolutely doomed to despair if left to discover God on our own. But alleluia to the Lamb, God took the initiative to reveal Himself to us. The Living God unveiled Himself perfectly, completely, and thoroughly in the Person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the way, because Jesus is the perfect, visible, external manifestation of the invisible God.
