If you’re sick of these kids causing trouble in your area please read this… We started renting our house about 5 years ago and it slowly turned into our worst nightmare. Like most areas there were a few kids who played out on our street. We had no problem with them at first, they would play football and just do stuff kids would do. But as time went on it got worse. They’d litter everywhere, throw stones at cars, ride dirt bikes up and down till late. For a while I ignored it because you tell yourself it'll sort itself out or maybe they’ll get bored and move on somewhere else. Plus, you don't want to make things worse by causing a scene. And even if you ask them to move they just give you hassle and back-chat. But it was escalating every week and I was at breaking point. Going round to the parents was pointless as you don’t know exactly where they live. And even if you do, they play the 'my child is innocent game’. I called the 101 non-emergency police line a few times to report them. But they’d always run or ride off as soon as they had done something. Each time I’d be be told they’ll log a report but can't do anything without video proof and to call them if they actually break something, not just attempt to. They must of known that it is was our house that was reporting them because they started to target only us. Most weeks I had to call the police. When I requested any updates on our reports that they said they would escalate to criminal damage, I just got nothing ! The last straw was 3 weeks ago… I came out to to my car Tuesday morning to find both front tires flat to the rim. My car is how I get to work and no buses go directly there so I had to call my sister to drop me. I knew it was one of those kids but I couldn’t prove it. It was getting unbearable. I considered going to my GP for anxiety meds as I already have anxiety that was being made worse by all of this. Some people would just say “why don’t you just move house”. But it’s not exactly that simple, plus I shouldn’t have to be the one moving! We were looking into buying a home, but can't really afford it until the end of next year at least. So I decided to take matters into my own hands… I ended up buying one of those Ring doorbells seeing as a few of my friends had one. It cost nearly £100 just for the device. And they I realised I needed to pay £8/month subscription just to be able to save my videos ! I honestly I didn’t want another subscription but at that point I was pretty desperate. At least now I had something watching out for me, which was a bit of a relief. But it turned out it was the WORST thing I could of done. It only lasted a week… One evening while I was round my friend’s house I got a motion alert on my phone. Then another two straight after. So I opened the app and the footage was completely black, literally just a dark screen. I checked the live feed and that was completely black too, so I assumed it was a glitch or my internet had just dropped out. Then I got home and the camera was GONE! One of those cheeky rats had ripped it clean off my wall. The bracket was still there but the camera was missing. Apparently it’s happened to loads of people because they’re mounted outside. But here’s the joke… I called Ring expecting them to replace it or at least do something about it. However because I got it from Amazon, the theft guarantee is only valid if you buy it directly from the Ring website and have some sort of proof that it got stolen. So that was £119 down the drain, plus the subscription cost I had paid for the month. I read a bunch of comments in different groups and forums from people who had theirs stolen because of how easy it is for anyone to rip them off the wall. Sometimes I could walk up my drive and it wouldn’t alert me until 7 minutes later, yet it would ping right away for a passing car. I just wanted something that would give my peace of mind and the proof that I needed to get the police or council to actually do something. I felt like a fool. So one day at work while I was on break I was talking with my colleague Jane. I was telling her about how all of this is really stressing me out. She goes: “Why don’t you get yourself some window cameras like I have” She continued: “They just sit inside your window so no little sod can mess with it or rip of off your wall” She then pulled up an app on her phone and showed me the live feed of her front driveway and back garden. “I can see everything from my phone, and it will buzz me if anyone comes near my house with a little recording” Then she showed me a clip that was taken at 2AM but the video was in full colour. I could see the colour of her plants, shed and kids toys in the back garden. Confused, I asked her if the clip was day time or night time because the timestamp said 2AM, but it looked like it was 2PM. She goes: “Ohh it’s night time, it’s got colour night vision.. amazing ain’t it’. I asked how much it cost expecting it to be a fortune: “Think they were under 50 quid, and they don’t have a subscription either, that’s one of the main reasons why I got these ones.” She is the type of person to spend ages researching something, then will read all of the reviews before she spends a single penny so I trusted her. She sent me the link and that night and I ordered two SafeView cameras for the front and back of my house. I was still skeptical thinking they’d be some sort of catch. When they arrived I had them both up in 15 minutes if that, and I’m useless with technology! The camera just sticks to the inside of the glass with a peel-off mount. You plug it in, then connect to your WiFi through the free app. No drilling. No tools. No faffing about. It came with a free memory card which is why you don’t need to pay for any subscriptions. I like that you can’t hardly see them from the outside, so you can put them in any window and no one will know where they are until it catches them red handed. At that moment I felt a sudden peace of mind knowing I’d have solid evidence if anything happened. So then it was time to wait until something did… Just three days later… 3 DAYS! I was away visiting my friend in London. My phone buzzed around 11:34pm with an alert saying person detected. My stomach dropped before I'd even opened it. I check my recording in the app and see two of them walking down the middle of the road towards my car. It was pitch black and they didn’t know my window camera was recording them. One of them grabbed the passenger wing mirror and snapped it clean off and both of them ran away. They thought they’d got away with it. But they weren't’ that clever. I’d caught them both, one with grey Adidas hoodie with the stripe on the sleeve. And the other wearing Nike trainers with lime green on them. I'd already seen them multiple times before and even told the police on the 101 call. They told they couldn't act on a description alone. But this time I could prove it !! I downloaded the footage off my app that morning and sent it to the police. I had a face, clothing and evidence that they could actually use and not just dismiss. They identified him quickly he was 17 and he was charged with criminal damage. Three weeks after that, the council came back to me for the first time in 8 months and issued a Community Protection Notice on the group. They haven't troubled me since. I feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my chest, the constant worry is gone. The stress that made me dread to go outside my own house if I seen them in the street is no longer there. After years of grief I feel like I finally have a victory. So if you’ve been dealing with kids causing trouble in your area and want peace of mind then I honestly recommend you get some SafeView cameras. I’m not going to act like this will magically make the trouble disappear overnight. But it will give you peace or mind and most importantly the proof you need if something ever happens. I’ve not been paid to post this or nothing like that. I’m just genuinely trying to help out anyone else who maybe going through the same thing. Or if you just want some home security without spending hundreds on expensive equipment and subscriptions. I paid full price for mine but I just checked and they're 45% off right now, and they even give you a free memory card so you don’t need to buy one. There's a 90-day money-back guarantee so if you’re not happy, you've lost nothing trying it. You can get yours here: https://www.monremi.com/pages/camukv5 The police and council won’t bother to help you unless you take matters into your own hands. I hope this helps someone ! Stay safe P.S. Thank you to all of the kind comments and messages I’ve received, I appreciate it. P.P.S Not sure how long the sale will last on these but if they’re in stock then get them while you can. Some people have told me there was no stock left when they checked.
