Are you a carer wanting to take more time for yourself in 2026? Carers are people who look after someone with a disability, mental illness, long-term illness, or someone who is older and needs extra help. Most carers do this important work without being paid; it’s a big job, and it’s okay to need a break. Latrobe Community Health Service gives carers of all ages the chance to take a short break from their role. We can step in to help with caring duties and provide opportunities for carers to rest, socialise and recharge. Many carers also find new friendships and support through our carer groups. Pictured are Julie, Lucy, Susan and Pat (standing), and Pam, Vicky and Bernice (seated), who attend a regular carer’s catch-up group in Morwell. They’ve found connection, understanding and a safe space to share their experiences. LCHS carer activities and events include: - educational sessions - information talks - movie screenings - regular walking groups Carer respite can be for one to two hours, or even longer. For many carer events, the person you care for is also welcome to join you. Every carer’s situation is different. The best way to find out how our team can help you is to call us on 1800 242 696 or visit https://www.lchs.com.au/services/aged-care-and-carer-support/carer-support/
