FATHER OF AFRICA TWIN 🐪 Long before the Africa Twin became a name known on every continent, Honda went headfirst into big adventures and challenges with the NXR750. This model was built for one purpose only: to win the Paris Dakar Rally. A motorcycle build with no compromises, with speed, endurance and reliability across the harshest terrains on earth. The NXR750 defined Honda’s rally dominance in the late eighties. A purpose built 750cc V twin wrapped in lightweight bodywork, massive long travel suspension and twin headlights cutting through dust and darkness for thousands of kilometres at a time. Riders like Gilles Lalay trusted the NXR750 to survive days of punishment, where a single failure had serious consequences... But, the results spoke louder than any brochure ever could. Between 1986 and 1989 the Honda NXR750 dominated the Paris Dakar Rally, taking four consecutive overall victories and establishing Honda as the benchmark in rally raid racing. Wins with Cyril Neveu and Gilles Lalay showed the rider and motorcycles resilience and ability to run flat out day after day across thousands of kilometres. Finishing Dakar was already an achievement, but the NXR750 controlled the race and laid the foundation for what the Dakar Rally still is to this day. Honda refined the NXR750 year after year, learning what worked and what broke in real conditions. Those hard earned lessons became the blueprint for a new kind of motorcycle... so when the Africa Twin arrived, its DNA was already proven in the desert. Even today, the lineage is impossible to miss. Dakar dust runs through every Africa Twin ever built. CMSNL works hard to keep icons alive, no matter how much dust it has seen in it's lifetime.
