In Nigeria, however, the challenges are numerous and very real. The country faces persistent insecurity linked to attacks by armed groups in several regions, an economic crisis marked by high inflation, significant youth unemployment, and recurring social tensions. Millions of people are also affected by internal displacement caused by the violence. In this context, seeing the emergence of mobilizations linked to a conflict located several thousand kilometers away, in the Middle East, raises a broader question: why do certain international crises sometimes capture more attention than local challenges? This phenomenon is not unique to Nigeria. In many African countries, public debates are often influenced by global geopolitical dynamics, ideological or religious solidarity, but also by social networks which amplify certain narratives. Result: while public opinion is passionate about clashes between foreign powers, essential questions (governance, internal security, employment, education or economic development ) sometimes take a back seat. For many analysts, this situation illustrates a deeper challenge: the difficulty of maintaining collective attention to national priorities in an information environment saturated with international conflicts and ideological narratives. The point is not to deny the importance of international events. The world is interconnected, and global crises can impact every continent. But for many observers, the priority remains clear: African societies must above all focus their energy on resolving their own challenges, which directly condition their future. Because in the end, no foreign power will solve the continent's structural problems in place of Africans themselves. #panafricanism #sovereignty #africa #nigeria #eveilafricain
