Martin, Chief Instructor and Co-Owner at Kenpo Macarthur A poster of Bruce Lee on Martin’s wall sparked the confidence he needed as a young boy, and that spark shaped everything that followed at Kenpo Macarthur. We believe inspiration creates possibility, and we exist to give students the same sense of belief that guided Martin from childhood into his life’s work. We create that experience through coaching that builds capability, mentorship that builds character and a community that shows every student what they can become. In 1982, Martin arrived in Australia as a 13-year-old navigating a difficult transition, and by 1986 he began training, first in Karate and then in Taekwondo. In 1992 he tested for his Black Belt, and in 1997 he opened his own studio in Narellan, one of only two full-time centres in the region at the time. In 2000 he attended a seminar with martial arts icon Jeff Speakman, whose teaching and values aligned with everything Martin wanted to build. He joined Kenpo immediately, travelled to the USA, trained with Jeff and spent the next 25 years representing the Kenpo 5.0 organisation with pride. In 2025, Martin travelled to Las Vegas for the International World Cup and Black Belt Test, where he earned his 6th Degree Black Belt.
