Early example of a Tessa T1 Lounge Chair, made by Tessa Furniture, Tessa Ply Ltd., Victoria, Australia. Designed by Fred Lowen. Famously won the Dunhill Design Award in its debut year. Later examples were made of Tasmanian Blackwood, but this chair features solid Teak construction. A mix of MCM minimalism and "homey" comfort. Very rare original plush tan upholstery. Features removable seat cushion and arm cushions. Looks better without the arm cushions, but is very comfortable with them. Hands down one of the most comfortable lounge chairs I've sat in. Armrests have developed a patina from 55 years of getting in and out, and the finish has worn where your hands rest. I think refinishing it would take away from its history, so I've simply oiled the teak for a bit of protection and restore a bit of colour after cleaning. Seat straps are in great shape. You don't feel like you're going to fall through. 📍 Located in downtown Kingston, Ontario 🛻 Delivery can be arranged 👀 Check out my other listings for more MCM vintage furniture and decor!
