My post about dangerous assumptions business owners make struck a nerve. Let’s keep going. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because assumptions aren’t the only thing costing small business owners thousands. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mistakes are too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🚨 And unlike assumptions — which are things you believe — these are things you’re actively doing right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ Mistake #1: mixing personal and business finances. When your money lives in one account, you cannot see your real profit. You are not running a business. You are running a bank account. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ Mistake #2: no tax allocation. Every dollar that comes in has a tax liability attached to it. If you aren’t setting aside 35–40% from day one, you are spending money that was never yours to spend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ Mistake #3: paying yourself last. You are the most important expense in your business. Not your subscriptions. Not your ad spend. You. When owner pay is last, it’s optional. And optional means unpaid. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ Mistake #4: making decisions from your bank balance. Your bank balance is not your profit. Decisions made from a bank balance are guesses. Not strategy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ Mistake #5: waiting until year end to look at your numbers. By December, every mistake you made in January has compounded for 11 months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ None of these are about intelligence. None of them are about effort. Every single one is a structure problem. And structure problems have structure solutions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Comment ✨ PLANNER ✨ below and I’ll send you the link. Profit isn’t what’s left over. It’s what you plan for. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
