"A Matter of Light & Depth" is now open and brings intensity, mystery and lush beauty to Eastside Gallery. The show is on until 15 August. Nine local artists respond to the theme across painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, and jewellery. Moving between translucence and opacity, the exhibition explores what we choose to reveal - and what we keep in the shadows. Some lean into the pun on life and death; others play with surface and interiority, the frivolous and the meaningful, visibility and concealment. It’s a show of contrasts where light and depth invite reflection. Floor talks with the curator, Dr Liz Boldt, will take place every Saturday at 11am throughout the exhibition. Just turn up for a guided tour around the show. Artists: Cam Robinson, Joel Calasin Jr., John Clare, Laurie Roodt, Lourie Torr, Megan Woodhead, Melanie Dougan, Owen Spargo and Sophie Brown. Mini Gallery artists: Anton Zamorkin, Colette Meehan, Jordan Willan, Keila Robin, Madelaine Barbarics and Rebekah Palmer. All welcome, free parking onsite. Location: Linwood Village, 388 Worcester St, Christchurch (free parking & entry) Open: Wed-Thu: 11am-5pm | Fri-Sat: 10am-5pm We offer 11 weekly classes & activities, run exhibitions and events in Eastside and the Mini and hire our spaces for arts activities and events evenings and weekends.
