𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13 KJV) This verse is often used on encouraging greeting cards. You can even buy it on a T-shirt. But it is often misread to suggest “I can do all things.” In his letter, Paul prefaces this verse by recounting all the situations he has been through, good and bad. He was teaching that no matter our circumstances, we need to learn to be content, knowing God will give us the strength to endure. Some translations read “I can do all this”, referring back to the situations Paul described. Young’s Literal Translation says that we will have strength to face all things in Christ’s strength. We must be careful not to interpret “all things” as “anything”. This is not a promise from God to empower us to do whatever we imagine. It is His assurance that He will strengthen us to accomplish whatever He calls us to do, not what we choose to do. My prayer today: Thank You Jesus for the strength You give me. Without You, I am powerless. Thank You for empowering me to overcome adversity in my life. Help me to complete the work You have planned for me. AMEN July 10 #Bible #faith #pray #amen
