"You left without saying goodbye." Hayden said it as he caught up to me on the brick path outside the campus library. He fell into step beside me, carrying a plastic cup and acting like it was just another Monday morning before class. Hayden and I have been best friends since second grade. We grew up on the same block, built tree forts together, and helped each other through every bad breakup. Everyone on campus assumed we would date, but we had a strict rule against it. Back in freshman year, we almost kissed on his dorm futon. It made things awkward between us for weeks, so we made a pact never to cross that line again. Hayden had a lot of casual flings, and I refused to become just another girl on his roster. Keeping our friendship safe mattered more to me than anything. Then Friday night ruined everything. We went to an off-campus house party, drank too much tequila, and let a party dare push us into an upstairs bedroom. Once the door shut, we broke our rule. We had sex, and we were so drunk neither of us used protection. I scratched his shoulder blades, and I bit his neck right where it meets his collarbone. When I woke up at sunrise, his arm was heavy across my waist. Panic hit me right away. I could not face what we had done, so I slid out from under his arm and ran before he woke up. In my hurry, I left the silver necklace he gave me for my eighteenth birthday on the nightstand. I spent the entire weekend hiding in my dorm room, dreading this exact moment. Part of me wanted him to pretend he blacked out so we could go back to being normal. If we acted like nothing happened, I would not have to risk losing my best friend. But another part of me hated that idea. If he really remembered nothing, it meant sleeping with me was just a meaningless drunken mistake to him. Now here we are outside the library. I try to step around him to get away, but he refuses to let me run. Hayden blocks my path outside the library and holds out my iced coffee. His jacket is buttoned to his chin to hide my scratches. He looks at my bare neck and smirks. "You forgot your birthday necklace on my nightstand," he says quietly. "Do you want to talk about Friday, or are we pretending you didn't bite me?" You decide what happens next. #interactivestory #sagaland
