She came looking for a distraction. He offered her a night she’ll never forget... but what happens when the man who made her forget her ex turns out to be her new boss? “One more, please,” I say, rapping my knuckles on the bar. “Another one of those is going to hit you like a Mack truck,” the man beside me says without turning. I arch an eyebrow. “Excuse me?” He finally looks at me—and God help me, he’s beautiful. Sharp jaw, eyes like glacier fire. “You’re heartbroken, throwing back shots, and dressed to kill,” he says. “That makes you every man’s target in here.” “That include you?” He smirks. “I don't do revenge hook ups...or people who won't remember what happened the next morning." I roll my eyes. "How very noble of you." "Noble?" He laughs, and I pause as his eyes drop to my lips. "Don't mistake me for a gentlemen." He leans in a little closer. "If I take a woman to my bed, I want her to forget, too. The different is, I only want her to forget everything before me--not our night together. That part I want to haunt her forever." The bartender sets my shot in front of me, and I reach for it...but don't down it just yet. "It's not a revenge hook up," I say finally. "And I'm hardly drunk." "Careful," he warns. "You almost sound as if you're trying to convince me to take you home." I swallow. Hard. “And if I was?” "You're beautiful," he says, "but you're reckless. I'm not sure you're my type." "Uh huh. Then what exactly is your type?" "Women who listen." He signals the bartender for a check, stands, and puts on his jacket. "If you decide to come with me, you’re mine until morning. You do as I say. No questions." “And if I don't?” I ask as he pays for his drinks and mine. “Then you'll go home. Alone. And spend the night regretting it," he says, and without waiting for an answer, he walks out the door as if he knows I'll follow. Or as if he doesn't care if I do. I don't know what's come over me, but before I know it, I'm standing at his side as a driver opens a door for us to get into his black Lexus, and as he helps me in, his lips brush against my ear. "Good girl," he whispers. Keep reading Coldhearted Kingdom for FREE with Kindle Unlimited when you click the DOWNLOAD button today! Also available in paperback and audiobook!
