Dogs can make everyday life better, and the students at Wallace Day School in LaSalle County, IL cherish their time with school therapy dog, Ripley. Ripley and his fellow therapy pups make up the support team in United Way’s Paw Pals program in LaSalle County, and they’re helping reduce stress, anxiety, and feelings of loneliness for kids facing challenges at school. “Ripley has truly transformed the emotional climate of our school,” says Melanie Hart, Principal at Wallace Grade School. “Whether he’s offering a tail wag to a student who’s had a rough morning, helping a child find the courage to tackle a tough assignment, or simply spreading joy in the hallways, Rip has become an irreplaceable presence.” In LaSalle County and all over the world, United Way is dedicated to connecting young people with life-changing programs and getting them the support they need.
