🔥💲🔥💲🔥💲🔥💲🔥💲🔥💲🔥💲🔥💲 Once again the Sellers of the BESS site - aka the Menard News - show their true colors. They have proved week after week - all they care about is money. So - what is the citizens’ health worth? What is our air quality worth? What is our soil worth? What is our water and river worth? Do you care that this will be the start of Menard becoming the next industrial disappearing small town? This is not even a business coming to town bringing multiple jobs. Will you guarantee this will be the only BESS site? Will ya'll build a big house next to the site on the remaining 350ish acres to enjoy the view and noise? Do you care that you are going to reduce people’s property values near the site? Do you care that this is practically being built in town, near the highway, next to the baseball fields where children play, close to homes and businesses? Why did one commissioner tell me that the BESS facilities carry less toxins than an average house fire? Wait - what? Do you care about the potential risks of a thermal runway event? Do you honestly think your volunteer fire department can handle this? What kind of fire truck was promised to the Vol Fire Department Chief from RES? Do we have the volunteer man power and water to keep the 100 - 150 plus other cubicles cool when a fire breaks out for days or even weeks - 24 hours a day? Where will all this water drain to - maybe downhill to the river? Can you guarantee there will be no fires? Do you even care that the majority of the people in the county and in town are very upset and concerned about this? Why are other counties and their officials so opposed to these BESS sites? Why do counties with BESS fires finally pass regulations to ban them near towns after the fact? What are the evacuation plans for Menard? Why has the paper never mentioned the potential risks and hazards associated with BESS site? Have you told everyone how much larger your BESS site will be compared to other counties with sites near by? Thus making your site more dangerous. Why did you plan this site so secretly for 5 years and refrain from telling everyone that great big wonderful relief for the county was on the way if it was such a stupendous and safe idea?? Can you guarantee there will be no damage to our health, air, soil and river? Who are y’all to make decisions that could potentially risk the health of Menard’s citizens and their land values? Why do you always talk about money - maybe because that’s the only thing you have here? Make sure you tell them this revenue is temporary and it depletes each year substantially with those abatements while you are potentially putting our lives at risk on a daily basis with the threat of a disaster at this BESS site. Once the damage is done, it can NEVER be undone. So you tell me, is the money really worth the risks? Careful - y’all may want to tuck that greed back in. Shame on you - we should all thrive to be better stewards of the land, protect our waterways, and most importantly - protect Menard’s citizens….
